カエデの種子はいつ落ちる？　When will the seeds of maple fall?

多くの広葉樹は日本の本州ではおおよそ10月～11月にかけて種子を落とします。 カエデの種子も例外ではなく、そのほとんどが春から初夏にかけて実をつけ、秋には枝に種子がついていません。
Many hardwoods drop seeds from October to November in Honshu, Japan. Maple seeds are no exception, most of them produce fruit from spring to early summer, and in autumn seeds are not attached to branches.

ところが今年は春であるにもかかわらず、庭や街中で熟したカエデの種子をよく見かけます。 カエデには多くの亜種が存在していて、それぞれに実を落とす時期が種類によって違いますので、たまたま春に種子が落ちる種類のカエデの種子を多く見かけているのか、近年の気候変動の影響なのかはわかりません。

There are many subspecies in the maple, and the timing of dropping fruits on each is different according to the type. I do not know if I see plenty of species of maple that seeds fall in the spring, or the impact of recent climate change.

ケヤキ（KEYAKI）

２年前に作ったケヤキの実生盆栽の種子がこぼれて発芽しています。 先が二股に割れた双葉とノコギリ状の本葉が特徴です。

親木から落ちた種子は１年目には発芽せず、２年後に発芽することもあります。 また、すべての種子が発芽するわけではなく発芽する種子の割合は植物ごとにある程度決まっています。 これを「発芽率」といいます。

なぜ翌春に発芽せず翼々年に発芽する種子があるのか私にはわかりません。 ですが、まるで乾燥した木材の破片のような物体である種子たちが殻の中で自らの発芽のタイミングをうかがっていると思うと、それがいかにも命を感じさせてくれるのでワクワクするのです。
I do not know why there are seeds that do not sprout in the next spring but germinate in wing years. However, when thinking that the seeds, which are objects like fragments of dry wood, are looking at the timing of their own germination in the shell, It excites me because it makes life feel at all life.
