Janelle Monáe's Oscars Gown Is Covered in Massive Cutouts
Janelle Monáe wore an artfully crafted Christian Siriano gown when she arrived at the Vanity Fair Oscar party on Sunday. Monáe smiled for the camera in a sleeveless LBD covered in massive cutouts that went all the way down to her ankles. The "I Like That" singer styled the look with a black handbag, sparkling silver rings on both hands designed by Grace Lee and Delfina Delettrez, drop earrings, and their blond hair tied up into two space buns.

The button-clad dress, which debuted at New York Fashion Week as part of Siriano's spring/summer 2022 collection, features eight dramatic cutouts, beautifully layered to provide a peek of the midriff that speaks to our love for crop tops and low-rise looks from the early aughts.

The base of the dress is a black miniskirt embellished with three oversize white buttons that led down to Monáe's strappy Jimmy Choo Minny Sandals. The star also showed off their black-and white pedicure, which perfectly matched the monochrome color scheme that they tend to stick to in order to represent their dedication to uniformity as an ode to the working class.

Ahead of the Vanity Fair Oscars party, which featured several celebrity couple appearances from Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike, Anya Taylor-Joy and Malcolm McRae, Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey, and more — the stars also brought their A game to the Oscars red carpet. Some buzzy looks of the night included Kristen Stewart's tuxedo shorts, Timothée Chalamet's cropped, sequined blazer, Megan Thee Stallion's Gaurav Gupta gown, and Zoë Kravitz's Audrey Hepburn moment in Saint Laurent.
