Stressed Out? Gaze Through A Kaleidoscope For Stress Relief

kaleidoscope

When I was young, I used to enjoy looking through a cardboard tube with bits of colored glass, beads, and tinsel at the end of it.  I would spin the reflective bits around to see an infinite variety of beautiful colored designs.

A Scottish inventor, David Brewster invented it in 1816.  To give it a name he used several Greek words that mean ‘beautiful form watcher’.  Kalos means beautiful, eodos means shape and scopeo means to look at, and the new word kaleidoscope was invented as well.  The new device became popular in Europe then eventually it was reputed to be seen in America during 1870.

Most people deem it to be a child’s toy but it really is for all ages.  It can be used as a tool for designers to fashion jewelry, wallpaper and more or just anybody to gaze at all the designs to relieve stress.
