Asisat Oshoala who is the captain of the Super Falcons of Nigeria has undergone a successful surgery on her right foot and the Barcelona striker is now expected to be out of action for some weeks.

This latest development which was confirmed by her club Barcelona will be a cheering news for all Nigerian football lovers who have been following Asisat Oshoala’s games this term.

Since joining Barcelona from the Chinese Super League side Dalian Quanjian, Asisat Oshoala has been in great form for the Spanish giants.

According to the report on Brila, Barcelona made it clear that their Nigerian striker will miss some games so as for her to recuperate as soon as possible.

“The player had been suffering from discomfort for a few weeks, which had caused her to miss a game, such as the one at Santa Teresa. The intervention was given by Dr. Dalmau, under the supervision of the Medical Services of FC Barcelona.

“The evolution of the player will mark her return to the field of play.”

Oshoala’s last game for Barcelona was against Manchester City last week in Women’s Champions League which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Spanish side.

The Nigerian even netted the important away goal in the encounter which helped Barcelona to reach the semifinals of the Champions League.

The 26-year-old Super Falcons attacker joined the Catalan club in 2019 and has been an incredible performer for them since then.

Stats show that she has scored a staggering 33 goals in 32 appearances for them and helped them win the league title last campaign.

As if that was not enough, she also inspired them to the final of the women’s UEFA Champions League but lost to eventual winners Lyon who ran off with a 4-1 victory.

Oshoala has equally replicated her quality in the national team winning the Africa Women Footballer of the year four times. With her present form, she could win it again soon.
