Low Carb Patty Melt--Keto Made Easier
I've long maintained that a low-carb (or any) diet is as much about the mind game as it is the physical aspects like food and exercise. Well, this post is about how they can overlap.
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to habituate yourself to the low-carb lifestyle as quickly as possible. However, it can feel abrupt and uncomfortable, especially if food is an important experience for you beyond nutrition. Cutting out starches/carbs can be tough, especially since they're the underpinning of so many other things we think of as treats. It's really tough in the beginning, because the change in lifestyle can feel so foreign and so abrupt.
It stands to reason, then, that the best way to accomplish this is to make it feel as normal as possible as quickly as possible and the best way to do that is to enjoy your favorite foods in a form that is as close as possible to the original.
Enter my low-carb patty melt, dubbed "The Ron Melt" by a friend because I've so thoroughly mastered the preparation. Really, it's just a grilled cheese wit a beef patty in between. I add bacon and/or onions, depending upon how I feel. Now, I know that you're thinking, "hey, wait . . . what about the bread?" Well, there are a lot of low-carb breads on the market that can be used as transition foods for a low-carb/keto lifestyle, ones that can even be incorporated into your long-term diet if you're careful. I'll do a review of some later--as well as include a cooking video for the patty melt itself in a day or two. Until then, enjoy this bit of food porn.
yes, please talk more on the low-carb bread. I have been unable to find any. The closest I have found is 10 countable carbs per slice. Blows a whole days carbs with one sandwich.
