Keto Mythbusting Series Part 3

in #keto7 years ago (edited)

Damn it is so early but nice you made it here. Today I will continue my series of the ketogenic diet. As you may have recognized I am very eager on putting out good content right now. Hopefully, this rush stays a while haha.
But let's get moving.

Edit: Hey it's me and I am currently rewriting what I already wrote and I kind of shortened it a bit and well, as you may have recognized I am a little bit mad because of Grammarly just deleting my shit, but whatever I am still trying to give you some valuable information.

Today Our topic will be long-term keto.

The biggest concern that most people have with doing keto, in the long run, is their cholesterol levels. They are afraid of heart disease and other cardiovascular illnesses which are said to come with a ketogenic diet or a high-fat consumption that that is not true and this is why:

First of all, we have to differentiate between the two major types of cholesterol. LDL and HDL cholesterol just to simplify it we will call the LDL cholesterol the good and HDL cholesterol the bad cholesterol alright. SO if you are eating a high-fat diet like the ketogenic diet your overall cholesterol is rising and may even rise astronomically high. But the important thing is the relation between the LDL and HDL. Even if you have an overall cholesterol of 300 which may seem terrifying high you are at a minor risk of getting a heart disease than a person who is eating low fat with an overall cholesterol of 100.
Of course, you may ask yourself:

Because the ratio of HDL to LDL cholesterol is much higher on a high-fat diet than it is on a calorie restricted or low fat diet.

To sum it up: If you go to your doc for a routine check up and your cholesterol is tested, don't freak out about high numbers . Take your time and analyze your results, if your overall cholesterol is high, your HDL cholesterol is high and your LDL cholesterol is low then you have some pretty good news on your hands.
