The Story Behind the Well 1.400 Years Endowment Utsman bin Affan

at the time of the Prophet Muhammad, the city of Medina had experienced a scarcity to clean water trouble. Because they (the muhajirin) have been accustomed to drinking from zamzam water in Mecca.

The only remaining source of water is a well belonging to a Jew, the Raumah Well. The flavor of the water is similar to the zam-zam well. The Muslims and residents of Medina were forced to stand in line and buy clean water from the Jews.

Concerned about the condition of his people, the Prophet then said, "O my friends, any one of you who donate his wealth to be able to free the well, then donate it to the people, it will get His heaven Allah Ta'ala," according to the hadith history of HR. Muslim

Hearing that, Uthman bin Affan who then immediately moved to free the Wells Raumah it. Uthman immediately went to the Jewish owner of the well and bid to buy Raumah well for a high price.

Despite being given the highest offer even, the Jew owner of the well refused to sell it, "If I sell this well to you, Uthman, then I do not have the income I can get every day," the Jew explains the reason for his refusal.

Uthman ibn Affan who wished to get a reward of heaven did not lose the way of overcoming this Jewish rejection.

He also bought half the well and had it in turn. Finally the previous owner agreed to accept Utsman's offer earlier and also agreed that the same day half of Raumah well belongs to Uthman.

Uthman immediately announced to the people of Medina who want to take water in the Wells Raumah to take water for free because today Raumah well is his.

As he reminded that the people of Medina take enough water for two days, because tomorrow the well was no longer Uthman's.

The next day the Jews found their wells deserted by the buyers, because the people of Medina still had water supplies at home.

The Jews went to Uthman and offered to sell the well for the same price. Uthman who agreed and bought it for 20,000 dirhams, then the well Raumah also belongs to Uthman completely.

Then Uthman bin Affan donated the Well of Raumah. Since then Raumah well can be utilized by anyone, including the old Jewish owner.
