Korean cities that will survive in the future
A South Korean real estate expert claims that the core area of Gangnam will include Mapo/Yongsan/Yeouido, the adjacent areas of Seocho/Gangnam, and the Taecheon area, adding that it is difficult to create a new driving force for replacing the Gangnam area; Gangnam is a city created solely through private capital, therefore, an enormous amount of national power must be invested to create an infrastructure like Gangnam.
He also predicts a bright future for megacities in the southeastern region of South Korea. The southeastern region is centered around Busan and reaches Yeosu, Suncheon, and Gwangyang in Jeollanam-do to the southwest, and Pohang and Ulsan to the northeast. In addition, he expects the area around Sejong City to serve as a transportation hub.
