예전에 말씀드렸던 시계 이야기를 계속 해 보려고 합니다. 우리가 자주 보는 유명한 시계 모델들이 어떻게 탄생하게 되었는지 설명해 드리겠습니다.
Today I wanted to continue with my watch stories, to discuss more about the history behind some of the famous watch models available.
오늘 처음으로 설명할 모델은 Rolex사의 Explorer 모델입니다. 가장 최신 모델의 사진을 먼저 보여드릴게요.
The first model I would like to discuss is Rolex’s Explorer model. Let me show you the most recent version of the Explorer.
Explorer의 역사는 1953년으로 되돌아가는데요. 1953년 에베레스트 여정의 스폰서중 한명으로써 롤렉스는 자사의 Oyster Perpetual모델을 탐사대 에게 보급해 주었고, 에드먼드 힐러리와 텐징 노르가이는 최초로 에베레스트 산을 등정하는데 성공합니다.
The history of Rolex’s Explorer goes back to year 1953, when Rolex supplied its Oyster Perpetual models to the explorers (pun definitely intended) as the sponsor of the expedition. Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay succeeds in reaching the summit of Mt. Everest.

이 등정을 기억하는 기념으로 롤렉스는 Explorer 모델을 같은 해에 출시하게 됩니다.
To commemorate this achievement, Rolex releases the Explorer model in the same year.
