Xiaoxiao’s expression was tinged with a slight smirk, clearly displaying her disbelief at his words.
The boy scratched his head awkwardly and explained, "Well, Class S is either the top-performing or the wealthiest, while the other classes are just ordinary ones, divided into A, B, C, and D. The worst one is Class F, which contains the lowest-achieving students, many of whom are troublemakers. You should avoid F class."
Xiaoxiao’s eyes widened in realization—so that’s how it works!
She thought the boy wasn’t bad for giving her this helpful tip, and her attitude softened. Smiling, she remarked, "So, you must be really wealthy then? You don’t look like the type to excel academically."
The boy looked a little embarrassed and tried to save face, saying, "I’m just not great at English. My Chinese is excellent!"
Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but laugh. "You, a boy, being proud of your Chinese skills? Is that really something to boast about?"
"Xiaoxiao," he said, shaking his head with a grin, "I didn’t realize you had such a sharp tongue. You don’t seem as innocent and sweet as you look."
"Is this considered sharp-tongued? You haven’t seen real sarcasm yet."
"By the way, I’m Yu Zhe," he added, patting his chest. "If you ever need anything, just let me know."
Xiaoxiao found him somewhat likable. He had been one of the handsome boys she had noticed earlier on the podium. It turned out he was also quite interesting. Alright, she thought, she might as well make him her friend. Having someone to run errands for her wouldn’t be a bad thing.
They continued chatting, oblivious to the increasingly dark expression on the teacher’s face.
"New student, translate the next paragraph," the teacher suddenly called out.
Xiaoxiao, still engrossed in her conversation, didn’t realize the teacher was speaking to her until a girl sitting across the aisle nudged her.
"Xiaoxiao, the teacher’s calling you."
"Oh," she responded, realizing what was happening. She looked up and met the teacher’s furious gaze. "Teacher, is there something you need?"
The teacher’s face was a mosaic of bruises, changing colors as if she were seething with rage.
"Xiaoxiao! Translate the second paragraph from the textbook!"
Xiaoxiao shrugged innocently. "But, Teacher, I don’t have a textbook."
"Borrow one from a classmate!"
Clearly, the teacher was beyond irritable and not as easy to placate.
Yu Zhe, with a look of sympathy, passed her his textbook, whispering, "Just make something up. He won’t dare do anything to you."
Xiaoxiao, however, smiled cryptically. She casually opened the book and flipped to the designated passage.
Then, she began speaking in fluent English, with a hint of an American accent, completely different from the teacher’s clumsy, textbook-style English. The class was stunned at how smooth and pleasing her accent was.
"Teacher, is this the paragraph you meant? Here’s the translation..."
She then delivered a perfect translation of the entire section.
The teacher stood frozen, her expression turning even darker, as though she had been publicly humiliated.
"Teacher, may I sit down now?" Xiaoxiao asked sweetly.
"Sit down," the teacher muttered, her voice cold and reluctant.
Yu Zhe looked at her with admiration. "Xiaoxiao, you’re amazing! Your English is incredible! That accent—wow! If I hadn’t seen your face, I’d have thought a foreigner was speaking!"
Xiaoxiao blinked innocently and replied, "Didn’t I tell you? I’m back from the U.S. I used to attend one of the best private high schools there."
"Wow!" The students who had been eavesdropping all gasped in astonishment.
