there are many reasons, but the top reason is that there are more Steemit users from Seoul Korea than any other city in the world. The second reason is that I have a degree in Asian Studies, and I speak Japanese (I'll be getting translations of my top ones into Japanese too). I've lived in Asia and I'm familiar with the culture. I see the need to bridge the divide between USA and Asia, so this a great opportunity to do so. I am considering having my best articles translated into Japanese and Korean, and having a different account for that....still trying to decide.
Third reason is simple: most of the Korean community probably doesn't understand the history of Steem, and why and how the founders, @ned and @dantheman created Steem. Education is a big part as well.
I am also in the process of learning Korean, which I think will not be too hard. Might be good to connect others who are also learning

I think your project should be a big hit and you obviously have appropriate content. You are so right about the need for connection. You will be rare as a Westerner reaching out. I read the kr posts that have English at times and there are some super good people posting. I'm sure you are already connected with them.
My son learned very basic written Korean for some class and he said it was easy, but it sure does not look like it to me.

Personally, i think the reason that S. Korean and Japan are adopting Bitcoin faster than other countries is because their governments are more friendly towards cryptocurrency. Bitcoin was made a legal currency in Japan in April of 2017 and it was the very first country to do so. I think this could be one very big reason that crypto is getting boosted....many Westerners have very little clue about what is happening in Asia, as far as economics.
Or as far as anything. I tell people from the us I am in Bangkok and they say "Isn't that in China? You better get out now!"
I'm thinking the average person in the us will be far behind the curve on crypto. Too much fear over there.
