Reeds Under Eagle's Nest
This was shortlisted in the "At The Water's Edge" category for Outdoor Photography Magazine's: Landscape Photographer of The Year 2017 competition. The winners were announced yesterday, aaannnnnd......I didn't win. That's cool, as I really wasn't expecting to win because all the entries were amazing. I'm delighted to even have been shortlisted, to be honest. The winning images are superb, and thus, something to aspire to.
Taken from the edge of The Upper Lake in Killarney National Park in Ireland. The mountain in the background is known as Eagle's Nest Mountain. Up until about 10 years ago eagles had been extinct in Ireland due to hunting. But thanks to some new reintroduction programs, we have Golden Eagles in the north of the country in County Donegal, while here in County Kerry, we have successful breeding pairs of White-Tailed Eagles.
Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that! Donal (the boat guide) told us that! They are so proud of their Eagles :)
Too bad your photo didn't win!!
Ah, well. There's always next year!

Thanks so much Samantha! Having attainable goals is good, but I think it's more important to be mindful that I might never achieve those goals, and to be at peace with that. A lot of us are guilty of being too hard on ourselves.
I am guilty of that too. Recently I have been able to take a step back from that and create work that makes me happy and not worry about the rest. It has made all the difference.
Lovely to hear, Samantha. Kinder, more honest self-care eventually turns us into more compassionate people, I find. How you view yourself has a huge impact on the people around you. Just my thoughts, anyway :)
Truth! Keep thinking those thoughts.
