Say in your own words and based on what was explained in class: What is law?
A legal system is a set of regulations designed to maintain social harmony. It guarantees that everyone is aware of their responsibilities and rights and offers methods for settling disputes in a fair manner. Simply put by establishing limits and defending individual liberties the law promotes harmonious coexistence. Everyone must abide by it regardless of personal preference it is not an option. Laws also influence human behavior guaranteeing justice and fairness in day to day interactions.
Examples of Objective Law in Pakistan include the Penal Code ban on stealing and traffic legislation requiring seatbelt use. Everyone is required to abide by these laws. On the other hand personal rights like the ability to vote or own property are referred to as Subjective Law. These privileges permit people to make decisions about their lives while being shielded by the law. Together the two forms of law preserve social equilibrium.
Case study 01 |
---|
A citizen is driving a vehicle on the road and disregards the traffic light. Seconds later he is stopped by a traffic police officer and this citizen claims that he disregarded the traffic light because he was in a hurry to pick up his son and take him to the hospital because he is feeling unwell.
Based on what you have learned, please state in which part of the case Objective Law and Subjective Law are present.
One example of Objective Law that everyone must abide by in Pakistan is the traffic laws. The individual broke the objective norm of stopping at a red light when he ignored the traffic light. Regardless of individual circumstances these regulations are upheld to preserve traffic safety and order. Since it is the duty of every driver to make sure they observe traffic signals especially in emergency situations in order to prevent accidents or harm to others breaking this regulation might result in a fee or penalty. The citizen logic however emphasizes Subjective Law which takes individual rights and circumstances into account.
His haste to get his ailing son to the hospital is a reflection of his right to safeguard his family's health. In these situations traffic cops may exercise discretion by analyzing the circumstances and weighing the public interest.security. Pakistani laws such as Section 82 of the Pakistan Penal Code demonstrate how objective and subjective laws can cooperate to achieve justice by permitting specific circumstances to be taken into account while implementing the law.

Based on what you have explained in class, make a comparison and according to the law of your country. Give an example of a law and an example of a norm.
In contrast a norm is a social regulation that is not legally enforced but is adhered to out of respect or custom. For instance it is customary in Pakistani culture to greet seniors with dignity. Although not required by law society expects it. If someone deviates from this standard Although there are no legal repercussions individuals could encounter criticism or disapproval from other people. Social behavior is shaped by norms and the nation's laws govern and uphold justice.
Case study 02 |
---|
Mr. Juan Perez rents an apartment but his financial situation is getting worse and he has not paid for 3 months. On one occasion, a meeting of apartment owners was held and the owner of the apartment where Mr. Juan Perez lives brought the case to the attention of the owners of the other apartments. They took the opportunity to say that they have received complaints from the neighbors of the building because Mr. Juan Perez has 4 dogs as pets in his apartment, something that is prohibited in the building's rules of coexistence.
Analyze and explain in which part of the case Mr. Juan Perez is violating a law and in which part he is violating a norm.
However by keeping four dogs in his unit Mr. Juan Perez is also breaking a norm and breaking the building's cohabitation guidelines. These guidelines are intended to preserve peace among neighbors but are not enforced by the government. Breaking these rules can cause complaints from other locals and societal condemnation even if no legal action is taken. A calm and cooperative living environment can be maintained by adhering to conventions.

Explain in your own words what importance Comparative Law has for you according to what you have seen in class.
Trade travel and communication bring people from various legal systems together in today globalized globe. By identifying points of agreement comparative law assists in resolving cross-border problems such as global corporate disputes or human rights issues. For Pakistan this could imply enhancing our laws while honoring our customs and culture by taking inspiration from international norms. It guarantees that our laws continue to be just and efficient and serves as a tool for advancement.
