Lesson 3: LEADERSHIP IS A TRUST
Being a Law Student has exposed me to many concepts. The Concept of trusteeship is one of them.
It is a legal concept wherein a person (usually called the trustee) is appointed to hold property for the benefit of those entitled to it. In its practical application, the Trustee would always look out for the beneficiary and would never convert the property to himself till the beneficiary has reached a stage he can handle such property.
To me leadership is a TRUST. It is a privilege and a call to service. It is a decision by people to surrender their collective resources and fortunes to a person to oversee and handle it in their best interest. As such, leaders must realize that they are only temporarily in charge of the destinies of their people and they are obligated to discharge that trust.
TRUST is golden and Sacred and so is Leadership. The confidence reposed should be regarded as a great privilege. When Leadership is viewed in this light, it would not be broken by private greed, ‘group’ compromise and negative pressure.
