किसी घर में एक मुर्ग़ा पला था वह रोज़ाना फ़ज्र के वक़्त आज़ान दिया करता था।
एक दिन मुर्ग़े के मालिक ने उसको धमकी देते हुए कहा अगर आज के बाद तूने फ़ज्र में आज़ान दी तो तेरे सारे पर नोच दूंगा।
मुर्ग़े ने सोचा ज़रुरत पड़ जाए तो खामोश रहने में हर्ज नहीं हैं। और शरीअत भी यही कहती है अगर जान बचाने के लिए कोई शरई हुक्म छोड़ना पड़े तो मसलेहत के तहत इजाज़त है।
और मेरे अलावा कई और भी तो मुर्ग़े है जो आज़ान दे रहे है,
मेरे एक के आज़ान न देने से क्या फ़र्क़ पड़ेगा.?
यह सोच कर मुर्ग़े ने अज़ान देना बंद कर दिया।

हफ़्ते भर के बाद मुर्ग़े के मालिक ने एक बार फिर मुर्ग़े को पकड़ कर कहा, आज से तू दूसरी मुर्गियों की तरह कुटकुटायेगा, नहीं तो तेरे पर नोचूंगा और तुझे मार दूंगा।
मरता क्या न करता, मुर्ग़े ने अपनी मर्दानगी को पसे पुश्त डाला और मुर्ग़ी की तरह किटकिटाना भी शुरू कर दिया।

महीने भर के बाद मुर्ग़े के मालिक ने मुर्ग़े को पकड़ कर कहा, कल से तू दूसरी मुर्ग़ियों की तरह अंडे देगा नहीं तो तेरी गर्दन पे छुरी फिर जायेगी.?
इस बार मुर्ग़ा अपने आंसू नहीं रोक पाया और रोते हुए अपने आप से कहने लगा,
काश मैं अज़ान देते देते मर जाता तो कितना अच्छा होता, आज ऐसी कोई डिमांड तो नहीं सुनना पड़ती जो मेरे लिए नामुमकिन है।

बहुत बहुत माफ़ी के साथ इस्लाम को छोड़ कर जम्हूरियत को गले लगाते लगाते आज हमारी हालत इस मुर्ग़े जैसी हो गई है, और आज इस मुर्ग़े की तरह हमसे भी अंडे देने की डिमांड की जा रही है।
काश हम इस्लाम की अज़ान देते देते क़ुर्बान हो जाते मगर इस बातिल निज़ाम की चका चौन्ध से मुतास्सिर हो कर इसे क़ुबूल न करते..

हमसे तो अच्छा मुर्ग़ा था जिसे कम से कम एहसास तो हो गया, हमें तो इस बात का एहसास भी नहीं है कि शरीयत के साथ कोम्प्रोमाईज़ करने से मुसलमानों के हालात बेहतर नहीं बदतर होते जाएंगे.
