Detecting lies #3 EYE MOVEMENT

How to read the eyes

This post is about how to interpret if someone is telling the truth by observing the eyes.

Until the end of this article you will know and be able to analyse the real story behind anything that someone is talking, using the observation of the eyes.

Of course some people are trained and have special training and lots of practice to be "unreadable" but even those people are not able to mask and dissimulate their micro expressions and even the gestures or their body language! For this I will add some pictures in the end with very highly trained individuals that you might recognise and just a failure of them (or two ;) ). I hope you'll enjoy!

First of all, let's focus only on the face and to be more exact, on the eyes!

  • Remember from my past articles that you have to take a NORM of the individual you are analysing and this eye observation technique can help you out or even do the whole trick!
  • There are 3 major types of people in this category, judged by their main sense that they identify with:

1. The VISUAL type

  • This is how you can easily identify this type of person ;)
  • This one is dominated by images and visual stuff and often when he talks he is using expressions like:
    • "I see that you..."
    • "I see the beauty in this..."
    • "I can't see the real/truth..."
    • "I see how you feel"
    • "Let's see..."
    • "You can see what I'm talking about"
  • This one's hand gestures are in front of him, and in front of his face, most often

2. The AUDITIVE type

  • This is how you can easily identify this type of person ;)
  • This one is dominated by sounds and audio stuff and often when he talks he is using expressions like:
    • "I hear that..."
    • "This sounds..."
    • "It sounds right..."
    • "I like the sound of rain..."
    • "You can hear what I'm talking about"
  • Also this type of people when they are asked to say something from their memory or to tell a story or something they experienced, they mention (mostly first thing) what sounds/ what they heard at that time (even though nobody asked). So this is just their way of telling a story or something they remembered.
  • Their hand gestures are in the sides and most often pointing at the ears

3. The EMOTIONAL type

  • This is how you can easily identify this type of person ;)
  • This one is dominated by feelings and emotional stuff and often when he talks is using expressions like:
    • "I feel that..."
    • "I can sense that..."
    • "It feels right"
    • "I like this feeling"
    • "You can feel what I'm..."
  • Also this type of people when they talk they tend to breath on their lower part of the body, in their abdomen not the chest and their hand gestures are manifesting somewhere between their chest and the belly.
  • When they tell a story of something that happened to them (so from memory), they tend to start with what they were feeling then, what they felt!

I think all of you know persons from each type. There is very hard to say what most of the persons' type is, so you have to analyse each person individually because there is no majority in any of these categories.

AND NOW, THE EYES:

  • As you can see in this picture, every eye movement means something but remember to analyse it WITH the context and use all the techniques to add a clue to what your conclusion will be (not to draw a fast conclusion).

And now as I promised, take a look at some pictures extracted from the Pittsburgh summit in 2009 about the nuclear weapons in Irak and the need to start the war (as they verbally declared). They are highly trained individuals but for some fractions of a second, their gestures said what they actually thought! Enjoy! (as you know, they didn't find any nuclear weapons in Irak, after the starting the war)
