Quote of the Day: The Wisdom of Chocolat

The 2000 movie, Chocolat, starring among others Juliette Binoche, Judi Dench and Johnny Depp, was a treat, indeed, not the least of which was the following wisdom imparted by the character, Pere Henri:

"I think we can't go around measuring our goodness by what we don't do. By what we deny ourselves. What we resist. And who we exclude.

I think we've got to measure our goodness by what we embrace. What we create. And who we include."

In these days of conflict and strife among virtually every strata and member of our human society, I take this opportunity to remind of, and endorse that sweet wisdom, for all of our sakes.
