Conversations Within Me!

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Hey guys!

So, it's definitely been a long time since I was active around here. But it's hard to keep up when you are travelling, no?
But one very good thing about travelling is that it gives you a lot of time to think, especially if you are on your own. I have been going over a couple of things in my head recently and I thought why not write them down here.

Today I will talking about some things which I generally don't. You know those times, when you just sit and start thinking about how you might have changed as a person over time? Or you started doing things that you never thought of? Well this is what I have been analysing over the past month and I got some really interesting insights. These are some reflections of my own from the past year upto now. I hope it makes some sense to you :)

Doing things alone.

I am not lying when I am say this. I would, if this was one year back. I was someone who would always make at least one of my friends tag along with me no matter where I went.
ENTER- TEDx 2017. Yep, getting to participate in this event was a big deal for me, let alone being the only student from my college. I decided to go for it because of which I met some incredible people such as @umangkochar1996, who have become good friends of mine since then. This broke my comfort zone for sure & I have never turned back after that. In fact I love doing things on my own now. I have started travelling a lot of places on my own, sometimes mentioning it only to a few people. My friends @ayushijain & @komal were discussing the same thing the other day about how we have changed since the past 2 years.

Following my dreams no matter what people say.

This is THE biggest change in my life which I am going through right now. When you decide to opt for a life which is not “conventional’, one thing is definite for sure. Assumptions from people around you. “Are you sure you want to do this?” or “Are you sure this is the RIGHT WAY?” are few of the many questions that will get shoved at your face for no reason. My passion is art. That is what gets my heart racing and keeps my soul alive! And I mean to live a life which enables me to travel freely, learn something new everyday and get myself completely absorbed. So far, I have received tons of responses, most of which were filled with shocks and doubts.
Anyway, the whole point is that I am letting go of certain things which are serving as obstacles, in order to live the life I have always dreamed of.

Stopped seeking approval

Yep. The sentence pretty much says it all. I realised how tidious and boring the process of asking for permission is, so I simply decided to let it go. Results? Faster and better decisions or maybe a lesson learnt sometimes. But what's fun about this is the fact that you get to take charge of everything without being stopped, sometimes due to illogical reasons!

Not Give A Hoot About Opinions.

I have always been carefree, even as a kid. Breaking rules have always been my one of my favourites, I think. But as you grow up, you are taught the "dos" & "don'ts" of life. I decided to ditch this manual and do the things that I like which is working perfectly fine for me.

Prioritizing things.

It’s funny how comically frustrating the discussions with my brother @sauravrungta & @ayushijain get when we talk about things we want to learn in this lifetime. Mastering that musical instrument, learning those dance forms, reading “ALL” those novels which are safely bookmarked in our browsers or maybe even becoming a tea connoisseur someday & the list is infinite. But it’s always better to prioritise things in order to understand one thing properly. For example, there are like a zillion things that you can learn in art itself, hence what I decided to was pick one form for a few months, understand it and then move on to the next one.

Well.. that's pretty much for now, I guess. These were THE most important takes for me from the past year. Let me know if things like these have happened with you which might have changed your perceptions about life or even some part of it. I would be more than happy to give them a read :)

Till then..

Lots of Love <3

At this rate I wonder how much we would change in a few years. Nice one :)

True :) It will be interesting to see for sure!

I thought the first one was you tbh xP

Great post, glad to see I'm not the only one returning to the platform after a hiatus!

Couple things I'm able to take away from this:

  1. Solitude is important. When we do things alone and make our only option self reliance, we grow and become stronger.
  2. Glad that you're making the decision to follow your dreams now more rather than later. You wouldn't want to look back and ask yourself why you listened to people that ultimately didn't matter.
  3. prioritization is key because it teaches you to balance your life more, and also shows you what you truly value in the face of all that you might be interested in.

Looking forward to more!
