Kamil was chosen to be the name of one storm in Britain

Kamil, Wilbert, and Fleur entered into the list of names for hurricanes that strike the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland during the next 12 months.
Meteorology Britain and Ireland for the second year asked people to give suggestions for the names of the storm.
Around 10,000 names proposed to be named for the storm had a major impact in the United Kingdom or Ireland in the period from October 1, 2016 until the end of September 2017.

The complete list of names selected are: Angus, Barbara, Conor, Doris, Ewan, Fleur, Gabriel, Holly, Ivor, Jacqui, Kamil, Louise, Malcolm, Natalie, Oisin, Penelope, Robert, Susan Thomas, Valerie, and Wilbert.

Project is different from previous years, this time deep snow and heavy rain will have a major impact on the proposed name though still have to contain the violent wind.
Naming the storm did not use the prefix Q, U, X, Y, and Z, the same naming conventions in the United States.

The purpose of the project requested the proposed name of the citizens of the storm is to raise awareness of bad weather and security of the public.
"By opting to name the storm, people become more aware of the threat of bad weather approaching and can act on that information," said Derek Ryall, Chairman of the Public Weather Service in the UK Meteorological Office.
