Crown of her husband
In Proverbs chapter 12, the author shows us the contrast between two actions, one good and the other bad ... an honest and just path that leads to life and a path of sin that leads to death: "The good will obtain the favor of the Lord, But he will condemn the man of evil designs. "(v.2) This way of presenting ourselves to where sin leads us is interesting; and on the other hand, what makes a life surrendered to God and absolutely dependent on Him. Among those contrasts, we see one that applies to women, one good and one bad, one is to be a crown and the other is to be rotten. It is in verse 4: "The virtuous woman is the crown of her husband; But bad as rottenness in his bones". (RVR1960) "The virtuous woman is the crown of her husband, but the one who shames him is like rottenness in his bones." (HNV) "A worthy wife is a crown for her husband, but the shameless one is like cancer to her bones." (NTV) "The good wife fills her husband with pride; the bad wife ruins his life. " (TLA) We want to be inclined to be virtuous women and possess beautiful qualities: be wise, skilled, dignified, discreet and, therefore, be good wives.
Beautiful virtue! The woman plays an important role in God's plan. Through us He wants to fulfill His purposes in the lives of people through our different roles as wife, mother and wife. God designed us to live and coexist under one roof with our spouses in an organized and pleasant way that honors Him. In us there is that special touch to form a couple and have a home. Within that "special touch" are the pious virtues. The author of this proverb exalts us as a "crown" for the husband! What a privilege! And even more, in chapter 31 verses 10 and onwards, we continue to read praises to those virtues that define an exemplary woman, of a noble character, who loves God and values all that He has given her. What is a crown? It is a ring that is placed on the head, usually as an ornament, as a sign of reward or as a symbol of nobility or dignity. That must be a virtuous woman for her husband, and no doubt this would be a very lucky man. Now I would like to show you 3 things that could be represented as "crown" for our husbands: 1. Support: A worthy, good, virtuous wife should be support for her husband at all times. This is our divine design: ezer, ideal help. This is important. What you offer your husband in his difficult or problematic moments is what will guarantee a great part of his stability in all senses and that will affect your marriage for better or worse. What he finds in you at those moments is extremely important. Therefore, the good thing that you should offer is comfort, arms to mourn, ears to listen, understanding, forgiveness, hope, words of encouragement and life. If you do the opposite, that is, what a bad woman usually does, as the author of these proverbs calls her, will not yield good results. Look what the passage tells us: "There are men whose words are like blows of the sword; But the tongue of the wise is medicine "V.18
- The truth: A wife who is 'crowning' her husband should ALWAYS tell the truth. The honesty and sincerity applied to marriage are fertilizer that will bear good fruit. The truth, even though it is strong, brings healing. The best and healthy thing is that you do not have secrets with your husband. Talk to him about any financial situation, the house, the children, family, even yourself. There are women who get used to lying to their partners since they are dating and when they get married they continue to do it ... This is not recommended. We should not lie or deceive or make silence ... this would make a woman 'rotten.' The passage tells us the following: "True lips will remain forever, but the tongue lying, just for a moment." V. 19 "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight." V. 22 3. The industriousness: A hardworking wife is hardworking, diligent, hard-working, persevering. It is the woman described in verses 10 through 29 of Proverbs 31, as you read it you will know what kind of wife I am referring to here. A wife with courage, who works in her home and outside of her and who is a suitable help, are very appreciated virtues, she is a valuable woman. It is important that as wives we are not indifferent to the needs of our home and husband. God gave us strength and talents to do many things that are beneficial for the family. Imagine a vague, indolent, negligent and lazy wife, that everything is on her or is ruined by not being a worker, a bad woman is like that; on the contrary, to a laborious wife: "The sluggard does not catch prey, but the diligent already has great wealth." (V. 27) "She watches the march of her house, and does not eat the bread of idleness." (Proverbs 31:27) A woman crowning her husband is the one we should wish to be. God wants lasting and healthy marriages for us and with His help we can achieve it. Let us pray to God manifesting our longings and what we need to become a BEAUTIFUL CROWN for our husbands! There are many other ways of how we can be those "crowns"; If you encourage yourself in the comments section you can name others and we will read them as well:
