Consciousness is the key to happiness: how can you be more conscious in your day-to-day life?
Currently we see that mindfulness courses proliferate. This word is in the mouth many people because it seems to be an effective tool to reduce stress.
That's right: mindfulness is a technique based on ancestral methods that brings to the agitation of modern life a little inner peace and serenity. It is, in a few words, to take all our attention to what we are doing in the here and now. That is, our energy would be fully and exclusively focused on what happens to us in the present moment.
It is true that initially incorporate it into our daily lives may take a little time, but certainly worth trying. That's why today we share with you 4 keys to be more conscious in your day to day and achieve an opening towards a life overflowing with happiness. Discover them below:
1. Breathe
This mechanical act that keeps us alive is essential to begin to connect with ourselves, with our body and our mind. When we focus our attention on breathing we are also able to recognize more easily what happens in our environment and help us to reduce anxiety then.
A full breath also mobilizes the stagnant energies and allows a renewing air to flow throughout our being. You can try, for example, inhaling through the nose in 1, 2 and 3, hold the air for 4, 5 and exhale through the mouth in 6, 7, 8 and 9. Repeat how many times you feel that you need it.
2. Concentrate on one task at a time
Sometimes we get carried away by this prevailing maxim in the current system that induces us to do more in less time. According to this paradigm, the more we do, the more we will get. However, it has already been proven that multitasking is far from making us more productive, in fact, it reduces productivity levels by 40%.
But the damage of doing several tasks at once is not limited to lower productivity but affects our body due to the increase detected by our mind in terms of stress and anxiety. So, if you want to lead a healthy life and, of course, happier, focus on one task at a time. Do it slow or in your time, do not let yourself be carried away by external rhythms. You will see that the results are better and, above all, you feel much better during the whole process.
3. Do not judge your thoughts
When we begin to practice mindfulness we begin to become more aware of the thoughts that go through our mind. You are likely to be tempted at that moment to judge each thought and label it a "good" or "bad" action and you may even start to get upset about the amount of worries that overwhelm your mind on a daily basis.
The most advisable thing is that you also let those worries pass, do not invest time and energy in judging them. Position yourself as an observer of your thoughts that, instead of forcing a blank mind, simply let them flow. In this way, it will be easier for you to get ahead: you will no longer identify with any of them.
4. Cultivate presence
Although it sounds very beautiful, being present is not always so easy. Moreover, surely at the beginning you may find this "being in the present" a bit artificial. But do not worry, this feeling of strangeness is also part of the process of cultivating presence. To achieve this, you can start with some questions as a guide of the type what am I doing at this precise moment? How is my breathing? Do I have my feet on the ground? With these little attention calls you can become aware of the present moment and focus on it.
In general, we tend to escape from the present moment, whether by lamenting about the past or worrying about the future. But there is a wealth and an enormous wisdom in what we are experiencing at this precise moment. The mere fact of breathing is already a fabulous gift, imagine everything you have to thank only for waking up every day.
If you put these habits into practice you will see that little by little you begin to feel more and more serene and comfortable with your life.
