Society's Judgement
Society has many rules and regulations which they expect each one of us to follow. We are, however, all individuals and not everybody can be force-fit into these molds. The older I grow, the more I realise that the world is not black and white, but a huge portion is grey, a lot of grey.
It's like trying to fit a big square into a small circle. Some of it goes in, but a huge portion of it is left on the outside.
Perhaps these examples could help some of you understand the point I'm trying to bring across a little better.
Work
What do you call a job where you work on your own time at anywhere you like -- accomplish all the tasks a full-timer is expected to do but you're still able to pursue other things on the side. Is that a full time job? But there are no fixed hours, so in a way it's more project based? But it's not freelance either because the job could be anything and the commitment is more than that of a freelancer.
I'm sure there are many other jobs with out-of-norm scopes that don't fit into the typical "full time/part-time/freelance/ad-hoc" categories.
Relationships
How about relationships that are not official, but feel real enough to be a real relationship? Maybe you live together, have a kid together, are happy, but just not officially together/married? This might sound ridiculous to a huge part of you guys out there, but maybe these people have a reason to do so?
How about a relationship where you do everything a couple does but have no romantic feelings for each other? What do you call that? Maybe friends with benefits? But if you minus sex, what does that become then? friendswithbenefits-sex? LOL
These are just some of the many many examples out there. There is really so much grey, so many things we can't fit into a certain category, a certain description.
Don't let the world tell you what to do
People love to judge others with "society's standards" as a ruler. But they don't know the full picture and don't understand what you experience through your shoes. We could all go through the same thing but have different individual experiences, and we'll never be able to truly understand each other 100%.
So do what ever you want even if it's "society's wrong", so long as you're not causing hurt (I think that's a dick move, but if you really want to, who can stop you right?). Maybe society might deem your actions wrong, but perhaps these "fuck ups" are needed for you to grow, and for you to understand how to navigate a situation like that better in future. Society's not always right anyway, find your own answers and your own paths.
Yeah, think for yourself, and find your way in life. Look at principles, traditions, that withstand the test of the time, globally, as well.
Yeah, some things are still relevant today, though they were created long ago. However some things are no longer truly relevant but people still hold on to it cause -- convenience -- they don't want to challenge or think about why they believe/do certain things. It's always easier to just follow a path drawn out for you. Think it's just important to question and know why you do certain things. :) Thanks for popping by Joey! Appreciate it.
Awesome.
like this a lot. Great for all the people out there who can't seem to fit themselves into a box =)
Thanks for popping by :) Hope it made you feel a little less out of place. Good luck wayfare!
