The Making Of A Massage Room - From Start To Finish - New Beginnings
First we find the room...
We Enter The Space...
We Feel The Space...
We View The Space...
We Imagine From Perspective Of Potential...
Imagining Possibilities...
Deciding...
Claiming The Space...
Seeing How My Table Will Fit...
Getting ready to paint...
It took us quite a while to choose the color of the paint...
We wanted it to be just right, Tasteful. Stylish. Relaxing. Soothing. An overall good feeling...
Placing everything in the center of the room. In preparation to paint...
(Laying down newspapers to protect the floor...)
I first began my career in massage, as a Ayurvedic technician at a little Ayurvedic clinic in Iowa in 1998...
At this present time in my history I have not practiced in about 5 years...
(Proper preparation before painting, means a better job and less cleanup time! )
My last place of employment as a massage therapist was at a local spa. I was there when they first opened and worked there for about 3 years.
But I eventually decided that I would rather keep the profits instead of working for someone else...
So I left. Figuring I would just work out of my apartment...
(The color of this paint is 'Hawaiian Teal' by Glidden)
Nice idea but I soon discovered that I wasn't 'zoned' for business where I lived...
Since I also had another job at the same time as 'front desk' at a local hotel, I was still able to survive...
(This paint went on really nice and I'm happy to say that it only took 2 coats.)
But...
The days go by and suddenly it's been 5 years since I've practiced!
And so about 3 months ago @yenmoon and I started looking around for a space to rent so I could finally begin practicing again...
And so here we are! Making the room ready in preparation of my reentering the marvelous world of the bodyworker professional!
All massage therapists bring something of their own personality to the work they do...
Since I have always been metaphysically oriented I cannot help but bring that into the experience that I share...
Tibetan bowls... Tingsha... Tuning forks... Magnets...
Crystal energy... Peace... Love... Understanding... Compassion... Are a few things that I bring to the massage room...
Here we're placing shelves for the speakers...
We got some really awesome remote controlled LED lights.
They can turn into all kinds of colors but for now I'm really into the pink. It just seems soothing and relaxing and looks wonderful with the Hawaiian Teal.
I view massage as a spiritual experience...
I like to say that, "When I love you, I am loving myself..."
Being a massage practitioner has been a spiritually evolutionary process for me...
I remember that before I quit about 5 years ago that it was not unusual to feel energy vibrations while working on some people... Very clear and strong vibrations as if they were a large ringing bell that I was touching... Strongly vibrating beneath my fingers... It's kind of hard to describe actually...
I had my energy channels opened years ago in relation to being initiated into and studying Usui Reiki & Terra Mai Reiki Levels 1, 2 & 3...
Lots of people call level 3 "Master Level", but I just don't because to me that just sounds pretentious...
But that's just me... If you want to call yourself a "Reiki Master" then be my guest.
I just don't feel like a master of anything. So I just say level 3. :-)
So anyway maybe the opening of those energy centers helped in developing my energy flow...
Actually I'm sure they did... And then of course there's my study of Quantum Touch...
Yup more energy work...
Yup put it all together and ya got a pretty interesting mix of what comprises my technique...
But now it's been 5 years and I'm way out of practice...
I must admit that I'm more than just a bit concerned about beginning again...
I mean I used to be pretty good...
But now I'm feeling so out of practice that my ego is concerned about not performing as well as I used to when I first begin again...
I know that I will redevelop my skills and even go beyond my past experiences...
But I am still feeling uncomfortable about getting from here to there...
I guess I'll take a few missteps in the beginning...
Intellectually I understand that, that may be a necessary part of the new growth process as I walk into my future...
But I don't like to take missteps. I don't like to stumble, and I don't like to perform any less than spectacularly...
It's funny though cuz even with the feelings of discomfort associated with being out of practice for so long, at the same time there's a part of me that is saying, "Don't worry it'll be alright"
Oh well, either way the room is ready...
And the day after tomorrow I actually have my first client...
...So I will just walk out the door this Monday morning. Head over to my new massage studio and step back into that person that I have always been.
Your brother and your friend...
...Remembering that when I love you... I am loving myself... :-)
