Kombucha Kraze! - My first batch
So what is this Kombucha?
If you haven’t tried it, go to your local Whole Foods and snag one from the refrigerated section. Out here in Southern California, it’s the latest craze. I went from never hearing or seeing it to drinking one every single day, it’s my new coffee! There’s one problem- it’s expensive, around $3-$5 per bottle however surprisingly easy & cheap to make. Today is the first post of my first Kombucha batch.
So for some of you that don’t know what is Kombucha?
Kombucha is a fermented tea that is in the category of Vinegars. If left to ferment long enough, it will turn into Vinegar.
Why do people like it?
It’s healthy, great for stomach issues & tastes delicious!
How does Kombucha ferment?
The active ingredient in Kombucha is known as the “Scoby" sometimes referred to as the “Mother”. Scoby is actually an acronym for Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast and it is where the healthy bacteria thrives.
I started my first batch roughly 2 weeks ago. I'll add another post along the way to share photos & progress!
