With Love From Nanya
Hey you,
How is it that,
We are all here together in this space of time
And we don’t get to meet at once
We share classes and bump into each other in the hallway
But we don’t say anything but ‘hi’
The faces just don’t register
We are always together in this space
Yet so far away
But in the moment it happens,
It’s like magic.
We wonder…
‘How is it that we are just meeting?’
The people that are just meeting
Suddenly don’t have enough time to talk about everything
In a teeny moment,
Friendships are established.
How does it all happen?
How do souls connect?
How is it that one moment the sky is forbiddingly bare and plain, and the moon, so alone
And the next moment, stars are gathered together in one place?
Ever wondered about the connectivity of everything?
How it all started
Ever worried about the road not taken
That perhaps, we could have met more friends on the other path
That perhaps, we could find what we’ve been looking for on the other side
What is it that souls try to reach out to other souls?
How can it be that love is sometimes found on lonely paths?
That you haven’t met someone
Yet it feels like you have known all your life?
That little chats as ‘hi’ can suddenly lead to something bigger than anyone of us can ever imagine
That you can be siblings with someone who doesn’t share your mother’s womb?
But then, I have come to realize
It just doesn’t suddenly happen
It starts from the moment we reach out to others
Not necessarily talking
The little talks that lead to great friendship…
The ‘hi’ said in the hallway
The ‘sorry’ said when we bump into each other
The ‘please, could you pass that to me?’
The little talks
All registers.
Somewhere, somehow,
We’ve always known
Our world is built on the many friendships that we establish
On the love that holds us together.
So, dear one
I hope life treats you kind
And I hope that you have all that you ever dreamed of…
And I wish you joy and happiness
But above all of these, I wish you lots of love.
Love,
Ifunanya.
