The Unspoken Figure
A woman lives in two spheres of existence. One of them deals with her strong character, carrying the weight of her bond with the loved ones. While the second one holds her grief which is a sheer result of society’s ignorance and ruthlessness towards this ‘creature.' Amazing, right? This picture is enough to portray the reckless status of a woman in our society which leaves her self-respect to nakedly wander in the lust of self-obsession exhibited by some of the thirstiest beings in the World.
The color combination is chosen very carefully with black, and red roughly spread all over the canvas. It is essential to exhibit the darker side of her life which either remains unexplored or she does not bother to make everyone accustomed with her most personal aura. Because it is the only area of her existence that stays ‘untouched’ for as long as she lives.
Moreover, it is quite evident that the artist has chosen not to make the woman’s eyes prominent, due to some undeniable reasons. It truly shows how the strong winds blowing against her rigidness and solitude thwart down the shutter of her eyes to hijack her brain. Just imagine! Everyone deserves to see what they are supposed to believe in, but the case is quite different for women belonging to an array of variants in the World. They are not provided the luxury to oversee what they are forced to believe in. I know this is ridiculous, absurd and worthy of condemnation with all the negative adjectives, but that is how it’s sailing.
When she raises her eyes to seek love from her husband while carrying an infant in her lap but is forced to wipe off even the mock of love is something only she can understand. Her lips are supposed to curl into smiles but what have we done to her? Gosh! We have forced the curls of her faces downwards while staring at her curves! This is an utterly lethargic behavior worthy of being rebuked at all instances.
Why has she kept a hand to support her head? Yes exactly! This is because you do not let her raise it in self-confidence. When was the last time you considered a woman to be of any significant advantage to your goals? Come on, if you are alive, this is because of her. Give her some credit at least, if being extravagant is not an ingredient of your so called monopolist attitude.
This painting is meant to unveil the unfortunate and weak status of women in the society (which shouldn’t have been the case, whatsoever), but at the very first glance, you were engulfed with materialistic thoughts. Instead of looking at the broader perspective, you were so curious to explore the ‘hidden elements in the painting.' That’s not how we are supposed to bring the change.
Take this painting as a lesson to mark revolution that you will always ensure that this woman raises her arms with joy instead of being an embodiment of our repercussions.
