Left to Wonder

The child persuaded me to follow him on a journey. I don't know why I trusted him but I did. The path was riddled with trees and everything that you find in a densely wooded area. Confused, I asked him where we were going. He ignored me and sped up ahead of me even more. I tried to follow his traction but the more I hurried is the slower I trotted. Right in front of the boy I saw a ray of light emanating in front of him as if he discovered an opening at the end of the woods. My steps picked up in haste to find where the child was leading me. The opening grew wider the closer I reached. The child appeared smaller in stature as well. I finally reached what seemingly appeared to be the end (or the beginning) of the journey and all I was greeted by was an expanse of light that hovered above an ocean. Mesmerized by the view, I looked for the child who led me there. I could not find him. I saw birds and animals and heard the waves of the ocean but no child in sight. I looked all over left and right and no child. I became a bit fearful wondering where the child went. Then I stared in front of me and surprisingly found the child. The child was.....me.
