MILLENNIALS - ARE YOU ONE OF THEM? + interview with Simon Sinek
Source
Millennials or Generation Y (as it is also known as its predecessor Generation X) is the group of people, or rather, the generations that were born in the time range between the years 1980-2000, also giving a range of two (2) years less or two (2) years more because many studies and investigations have been done and still there is no date that can be estimated accurately. So if you are between 18 and 38 years old, you are probably a "Millennial".
You are one?
To clarify your doubts better we have a set of characteristics that could give you the answer:
*They adapt very well to change: In these two (2) last decades, innumerable changes have been seen (social, cultural, economic, technological, etc.), so for Millennials the Change is an easy and busy field. Before they had to store their information on diskettes, from that they went on to burn CDs, and then to use USB and today they store everything in the cloud.
*Manage technology smoothly: Millennials talk about technology is the same as watching a fish in the water. It is likely that for many it is the subject that they handle with more ease, since they have been involved in important moments like going from VHS to DVD and then to BLU-RAY until you reach NETFLIX.
*They are impatient: because although it is true that in a short time they have lived a lot of changes, this has made them get used to having things faster and faster (or maybe easier). It was a problem to communicate with friends from the home landline, today with your smartphone you can save yourself a lot of trouble.
*Constant need to feel connected: the need to express themselves, to communicate, to stay informed about technological, economic or social issues, including creating content that implicitly implies their opinion about politics or religion (although most say they are not interested or follow these topics).
But not everything that is said is good. If you have heard or seen the term, you have been in some mockery about not leaving your parents' house or they are professionals but they have no merit that makes you feel successful, etc. This is because, although they are good at adapting to change, they are afraid of failure, and it is this very reason that limits them to daring to become independent, to obtain stable employment or to form a family (activities or normal processes for the Generation X)
Like everything else, it has its pros and cons, and the Millennials are further evidence that external factors influence the development of individuals.
Then I leave an interesting interview to the leadership expert Simón Sinek, where we can really appreciate the how and why of Millenials behaviors.
