Baby Boomer Class Dependancy
Class Trends -
2011 marks the year when the oldest members of the Baby Boomer generation – those born in 1946 – turns 65
and reaches official retirement age. Accordingly, Australia’s dependency ratio is projected to worsen progressively
each year from now on as the Baby Boomers gradually enter retirement.
Australia’s demographics are similar to those of other Western nations, which have also experienced similar
demographic ‘sweet spots’ as well as rising dependency ratios going forward.
Being a BB, I take offence at this condacending clap trap. "rising dependency ratios going forward", well I never!
Anyone in reasonable health (which is largely our own responsibility) can live very comfortably in Australia
on Social Welfare and part time activity.
The latter are now, endless possibilities. Selling on e-bay, washing a few people's clothes, grow food,
2 Days at Bunnings (most people would have fun doing that and also get a few specials),
Photography, Writing, Painting and numerous other creative activities.
Run a Class from home, 1 day a week on making a Bat House or a Fairy Garden.
The key point is that our CIVILIZATION is CHANGEing.
We suddenly received an extra 20 years of healthy Retirenment and do not know what to do with it.
If you cannot afford to go around the world on the Queen Mary, no problems.
Go backpacking around Europe, Americas & Asia - way more fun when you do not MUST get back to a Job.
By the time the second group of BB (10 years), there will be a critical shortage of healthy Retirees,
with more Creative Contribution (part-time at home) opportunities that anyone can poke a stick at.
And to be clear - part-time home-based activities were the norm for all Free people, before JOBS were created
and thrust down our throats.
