When you just can't change things.

in #life8 years ago

When it comes to gay rights, bullying, global warming and many other things, I tend to not have a response or judgement or anything like that and a lot of people think that I don’t care. It’s not that I don’t care; it’s the fact that so many people try to change something that just isn’t going to change.

I will explain what I mean right now.

People start riots, parades, arguments and so much more about things like gay rights and bullying. They blow it up to the point where law enforcement gets involved and they get discriminated and things thrown at them and they try to blow it up to the world and make everyone like it and understand it. The problem that I see is, there are rude, mean and cruel people in the world that don’t care and never will. Starting something huge will not change these people’s minds; it will just make them meaner.

It’s great to care about something and to get involved in changing it, like bullying.

You cannot make everyone in the world stop bullying; it is a waste of effort and energy that can be used on something more productive. When you see someone being bullied, jump in and make it stop, I would. Keep caring about it, because that’s great and I care too. Make your school zero tolerance for bullying. But, when it comes to these huge events to stop it and make everyone understand, you’re wasting your time. Bullies don’t care, why do you think they bully people?

The best thing anyone can do is just care and change what you can when you cannot start a parade or riot of some sort. People will just get hurt more in the process and it will just make the situation worse. People have their own opinions and always will, some opinions might not hurt people and some might. But the thing is you just can’t always change someone’s mind.

Sadly... some people are just going to get hurt.

I will try to post more about some things that people might like to read more and that actually have some info, but I’m just trying to pick up on this right now. I’m new to this but I like the idea of Steemit and I want to be involved.

History is full of examples of individuals or small groups through force of will alone changing the course of events, both good and bad.

That is very true. but when it comes to something like bullying, it will always be around becuase so many people don't care and will just keep bullying. If somebody changes that it would be gret, but i just don't see that happening considering the type of people in this world. Certain things can be changed. But some things can't.

I agree that kids will always pick on other kids for this or that. But some of your examples are a bit nonsensical. You don't think positive activism is an effective way to promote gay rights? Even though the rights gays have so far have been earned in exactly this way?

Well i actaully don't like to get inolved in gay rights. I just mentioned it as one of the examples. I don't really cares for gays myself, i don't really think anyone should be gay, but it's not my life to judge an if someone is going to then go ahead. I don't like to get inolved in that becuase i just like to let that be on it's own and i don't really want to be involved on any way. But you are right, they have gotten a lot o their rights this way. My point is they seem to expect people to just like it and deal with it and not say anything, but that won't happen.
