#Millenials
DEFINITION
The word "Millenials" seem to be a common word these days but what does it really mean? Below is the definition I took from searching through google.
Millenials , or also known as Generation Y or Net Generation, is a term that has been born after the Generation X. These are the people who have reached adulthood in the 21st century. (and that includes me of course and most of the people here on Steemit)
WHO COINED THE TERM "MILLENIALS"?
Neil Howe and William Strauss, authors of the 1991 book Generations: The History of America's Future, 1584 to 2069. Howe and Strauss define the Millennial cohort as consisting of individuals born between 1982 and 2004.
But the years weren't certain, for Newsweek magazine they reported that the Millennial generation was born between 1977 and 1994 and New York Times the Millenials were born between 1976-1990 and 1978-1998. Overall, the earliest year is 1976 and the latest is 2004.
MILLENIAL ATTITUDE
We, the Millenials, grew up in such a high-tech, electronical world. Although in my case, I was born 1992, I even reached the times where there were no cellphones yet like ours today. When we get to play more often outside than stay in the house and stick our noses to smartphones, laptops and tablets. Increasingly, we have paid more attention to the internet and most especially social media. Papers are mostly out now because we use emails and other apps that we use to communicate with other people.
Most Millenials are ambitious. Yes, they are. They want to reach higher than what their parents' achieved or even take it as a competition. We most care about what we are, what others think of us and as they say, this is a Selfie Generation.
Most of us are not politically interested but more interested in entertainment. Facebook is never neglected by this generation. Even companies rely on this generation because of such innovation, ambition and simply FUN. We are the last generation born by the 20th century.
AT WORK
Millennials have changed the statistics of work. Most feel good on making themselves as their own boss. More are engaged on business or marketing.
As some may have noticed, Generation X have a lot to blame to the millennials. They think most of the millennials are this and that and stereotype all of them to outgoing, drug addicts, alcoholics, smokers and more. I, for one, am an old soul and have no vices. I try to keep things simple and not relying on things that make everything so easy.
However, if you are a Millennial and you know this generation is the type that is open to all - Be the influencer, Be different.
