[HOW TO] Stress-Free Life Regardless of External Circumstances. The CURE For A Stressed Mind!

  • I would like to prove the point that I want to make through an example story that we all might get familiar with.
  • For this particular example, you are John. You are not the guy behind your PC or behind your mobile anymore.

You are now John

John is a great guy. He is smart, talented and with a keen sense for the subtler things of Life, but has a crippling habit of entering a Stressed state very easily.

John understands how bad this stressed state that he enters is, but he can't seem to get rid of it. Every time he enters into it, he becomes unproductive and starts imagining the worst possible outcome for everything he's doing with his life.

Understanding how detrimental that is to his own Life, John decides to understand Stress, and what are the causes of this state that he so frequently embodies.

In order to understand it, John starts looking at his past experiences regarding stress.

The Symptoms of Stress

John analyzes what happens when he already finds himself in the stressed state. While he carefully studies the stress symptoms from the many personal experiences that he had, he finds out that while there are symptoms repeating themselves throughout the various experiences, there is only one state of mind that was present each and every time he became stressed.
And that was the overtaking of a negative outlook towards everything in Life. As soon as he found himself being stressed, he no longer felt comfortable about Life, he began to imagine the worst outcomes to everything that he was doing.

Are Circumstances the Cause of Stress?

And so he wonders if there is a type of external event that causes him to become Stressed. He then decides to look at the circumstances in which he became stressed. Carefully analyzes if there is a pattern in those circumstances, if there is some exterior trigger that puts him in the undesired state.
After some time, he recognizes that it can't be external circumstances. Many of his friends faced very similar circumstances as him, and not everyone of them got stressed. And the circumstances in which he got stressed were as many times similar as they were different, so it can't be that.

The Real Reason of Stress

Still wondering about the negative state that is embodied when stressed, John suddenly comes to realize that it wasn't the Stress that caused him to become negative.

IT WAS THE OTHER WAY AROUND

Whenever he started and kept being negative about Life and his circumstances, then the Stress state would slowly but surely take the place of the main state he embodied.
And as he kept dwelling in that negative state, more worries, more responsibilities and more reasons to not be calm would make themselves present to John.
And so John realized what a vicious, self-feeding, self-perpetuating cycle Stress really is.

Since now he understands that STRESS is given birth by a NEGATIVE outlook of life, John also understands that all he has to do is not let himself slip into the pondering and imagining of undesired results in his Life.

And from then on, John didn't let his Imagination run wild with negativity anymore. He chose to look at Life as a Classroom, and at every experience, be it good or bad, as a lesson to be learned.
And John keeps on living a peaceful and happy Life where he learns many lessons everyday. And regardless if the lessons seem ed to be good or bad at first, he understood that, eventually, every lesson he ever learned will be useful to him.

Morale of the Story

The CURE for stress is YOURSELF.

Stress is not something that happens to you. Stress is something you do to yourself.

Don't let your Mind turn against you. Become it's master and teach it to Imagine for you only the things that you wish to Imagine.

\

  • There is not external medication to rid you of Stress, not permanently. It might cover your stress with a nice warm blanket for a little while. But the stress will eventually return if not cut from it's root.

I've found that a lot of peoples stress comes from the fact that they care what other people think about them. Sure, you shouldn't be an asshole in your life. But, going your own way & honoring your needs is better than trying to please everyone and manage other peoples perspectives of you. Just my two cents on my interactions with others throughout life. Great post. I followed you.

Let me answer to you through a quote.

Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.
-Oscar Wilde

That's exactly what happens when you decide to live your life according to other people standards. Sure, you shouldn't be an asshole but you shouldn't try to mimic others people behavior too.

Thank you very much for the insightful comment! I appreciate it. Upvoted and Followed :)

indeed. there are many stress situations... irrealistic expectation is one of it.

Thanks man! I appreciate the Love. <3
