Thoughts about life on a sunny Sunday morning and wonderful music from Allegri

in #life7 years ago (edited)

It is a sunny Sunday morning here in the Morvan (Burgundy/France). It is only nine in the morning and it is already warm outside. I go outside and make the pictures for this post, but I cannot help but think of what I just read.

I read the news and I tend to get somber because there is much injustice and abuse in the world, and I wonder if it is justified to enjoy my life and enjoy working in the garden and look after the house and so on.

It's a moral dilemma because except for sending money to places where people need it more than I do, I have a nice life here in France and also in the Netherlands while in many parts of the world there is war and missiles, hunger and rape to name a few terrible things.

Why my crib stood in the Netherlands I don't know (except my parents lived there), it was luck I guess, certainly no merit. Oh, I have worked very hard all my life, but now I am retired and live my life the way I want to live it. We live a simple life here in France, we don't need any luxury, but that's also in perspective because there are so many people on this planet who desperately hope to lead such a simple life. Think of Syria for instance.

I take a look at another picture I made and I can see the shadow of the big tree on the side of the house and the grass I mowed yesterday. I can still see the tracks of the lawn mower in the grass and I feel a little comforted.

Nobody will benefit from the fact that I am depressed because the situation in the world isn't as good as it should be. I can do something about it by sending money but otherwise, it is better to do my own work, be good to the people around me and help those in my surrounding who needs help.

It is useless to sit down and sip, it is useful to do what your hands find to do in your own neighborhood. Like Covey said, your circle of influence is where you must act, you can't change the world, you can change your surroundings.

So I make a cup of coffee and listen to one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever made: Gregorio Allegri "Miserere mei, Deus" by The Choir of Claire College, Cambridge,

I sit down in my favorite chair in our kitchen/living room and I am grateful to be alive.

I wish you all a very nice Sunday,

I agree... people in syria are wishing and praying for simple life... we must always be thankful for the simple life which we have got and pray that every person lives peacefully.

Yes, we must be thankful and keep on praying and do our best to live a good life.

wow very excellent

I went to bed last night thinking about those in danger and who are being hurt as I pulled my covers up feeling safe from harm.

I thought about our Steemit friends who live on the borders of Syria too and worried about them. I prayed for those trying to escape and hoped for safety for them.

We will always have war unfortunately. And the poor and the sick and the dying. We can only help where we can. There is always the question WHAT - what can I do.

Where I live we had about 3,000 refugees last year. Canada has brought in so many I'm not sure of the number and they have spread across the country to different provinces. Life is not easy for them even when they land here. Jobs are scarce. Language is a barrier. Time is not on their side for getting their lives in order to survive without assistance. I feel for them. Many are educated but not on par with Canadian law.

I don't understand why international laws or leaders don't remove these dictators.

I even read on a Steemit post where the person didn't believe these poor people were poisoned - no proof he cited. And that everyone who believed they were poisoned were being lied to. It's awful

I don't blame you for your sadness regarding these things @clio. I understand. I feel the same way too. It brings perspective to our lives for sure.

These people are just like you and me. They have families and dreams and hopes. I'm listening to your beautiful music as I write. I love this music - it reminds me of the old latin masses I attended as a little girl....singing in the choir.

Thanks for writing what many of us are feeling.

I thought of your first sentence. We live in countries where you are safe in your own home and you do not have to be afraid of a knock on the door and for the secret service that takes you to prison and tortures you for your beliefs or actions. Of course, there can be a burglar or something similar, but I mean the security of a more or less democratic country. I did not mention this in my post, but when I read your comments, I figured out what a blessing it is that we do not have to be afraid of something like that.
We also have many refugees in the Netherlands. Many people help them to adapt (Dutch is also a difficult language) but there are also people, even a political party, who want to get them all out of the country because 'they steal our jobs and live off welfare'. Crazy, of course, but they really believe it and do not want to share our relative wealth with people in need. No, they call them rapists and thieves.
They do not believe that these people, like you said, are just like you and me and that we want to meet nice, helpful people in the same circumstances.

@clio Thank You for this Beautiful Posting. I am listening to the Music right now and I feel like many things will be changing dramatically very soon. I am staying Positive because I know in my Heart that Good and Truth always Win Out............... I Hope that the rest of your Weekend is Blessed. I can't wait to Hear what Mark @exyle wants to share with all of us about London..................

Thank you @stokjockey, I hope you enjoy the music as much as I do. And I hope and pray you are right and that Good and Truth will always win.
Mark already shared some yesterday. I think he will do so today also!

You are absolutely right, my friend, the world is different to us and while terrible wars are going on somewhere, we have the ability to live, work and we can change the world for the better around us! Your beautiful photos showed me your house and it is clear that nature has come to life, very beautiful! The video is beautiful, the church music penetrates the soul! Thank you Clio

Thank you @serkagan, your words are a balm for my soul.

Thank you Clio....You are right- watching the news is very depressing , so much injustice and suffering everywhere. I am glad to live in a peaceful country and happy life too. It's sad and true that we can't change the world but we can make a difference in our immediate communities. I help and volunteer as much as I can in my area,

Thanks very much for this post! Wisdom is appreciated!

You are welcome @doctorjohn.

You are right- watching the news is very depressing , so much injustice and suffering everywhere. I am glad to live in a peaceful country and happy life too. It's sad and true that we can't change the world but we can make a difference in our immediate communities. I help and volunteer as much as I can in my area, despite this problems never end and am left kind of depressed but I guess that's how life is. BTW the music in the video is very nice...very calming to the soul :)

Thank you @practicaleric for your comment. I am also glad you liked the music, it is indeed calming to the soul.

Wow, so glad to hear from you. The world is beautiful because of your like people. Yes you are absolutely right we can not change the world, but we can make happy to the needy by our little sacrifice. Thanks friend for your sweet post really it is very inspiring one.

Thank you, my friend. I really appreciate your comment on my post.

I feels like such a strange thing sometimes he. I understand your feeling of just randomly being lucky on where to be born. If I look around me here, so many people have more difficulties just because they have a different passport. That is not their choice. Its just random.

I am super bad with violence. My colleague was robbed at gunpoint sunday just while getting take dinner. Nothing crazy. And this is a drip compared to all this violence we see in other different parts around us.

I agree its best to start in our inner circle. Things we have control and overview of. That is also what I like about steemit. That we have a chance to change peoples lives in a way of sbd and provide food on their tables just by voting. Maybe Syrians who have internet connections can also at least have some food or comfort to escape the violence foe a second.

You're right. Steemit is also a way to help individual people. I knew it, of course, but when I wrote my post, I did not think about it. Thank you for reminding me.
What a story with your colleague. Terrible. At least Switzerland is a rather safe country, you almost never read something about violence there.

I was thinking about that also.

'The chance of me getting robbed at gunpoint will reduce severe in about 3 weeks haha'

i love this music,,,really a great post @clio
