Day One Shower Filter Review: A Lifelong Dream of Mine to Bathe in This Kind of Water.
Very sensitive skin has always been an issue for me. Battles with breakouts, rashes and blotchy skin is a constant. My scalp is also something that gives me a lot of trouble, dandruff has been a problem my whole life. I did get relief once on a week long fishing trip to Long Lake in Michigan however.
The cabin we were staying in that week got its water from the lake, of course there was some type of filtration process but the quality was amazing. I honestly believe the better quality may have been due to there being less chemicals in the water than what I am used to in the city. Towards the end of the fishing trip my skin felt great and my dandruff was gone.
It had not occurred to me until recently that I may be able to recreate the quality at home. Not sure exactly how I came across the info but I started looking into shower filters. There are many options but I ended up with the Captain Eco 5-Stage Shower Filter. There are a ton of reviews and the majority are women talking about their hair.
Install was easy and they include plumbers tape which is nice. It is suggested that you run it for five minutes with hot water to get the coal particles out. Do this before connecting your shower head to prevent the particles from clogging anything.
Right away I could tell this was not going to reduce any of the flow of the shower. The water came blasting out, our pressure is very good where we are though so I am sure that helps a lot. I was excited to hook up the shower head and test out the filter.
I did read one review from a gentleman that mentioned having the water tested before and after the filter and claimed there is no scientific difference. My experience was wonderful and I could tell the water was much better right away, hard to believe this would be a placebo effect. The taste of the water was much better also, listed below are what the five stages of the filter.
KDF Process Media
Calcium Sulphite
Granulated Activated Carbon
Biocera Ceramic Balls
Polypropylene Cotton
The filters are supposed to be replaced after six months, when it comes time to replace I will cut it open and post the pictures.

Thanks!
need this in my life for sure
Do it, our water is trash.
Happy for you! Experts report that too much showering and shampooing can dry out your skin. Hopefully, that won't be the case with your new shower filter. Sounds cool!
Hard for me to not shower everyday. But the filter is doing wonders.
cant wait to have amazing hair!
thanks for the upgrade
Same here, really hoping it helps with my scalp.
