Founders Brewing CO. PC Pils
Founders: PC PILS
American Hopped Pilsner
Their description:
“Pleasantly crisp, Perfectly clean and profoundly crushable, PC Pils is our take on the classic pilsner style. While noble hops have been the preferred choice of pilsner brewers around the world, we went with some of our favorite American verieties. Piney chinook, pleasantly citrus cascade and punchy centennial make this an easy-drinker with floral hop characteristics. Pretty cool, if you ask us.”
5.5% ALC. by VOL
45 IBU’s
Type: Pilsner (if it wasn’t obvious)
Head:
Thin and quick to dissipate, yet flavorful
Scent:
Floral and citrusy, very aromatic
Color:
A light, slightly foggy gold
Taste:
Crisp and clean, fruity but not sweet, eventually becoming almost a perfume flavor, pleasantly carbonated, strong hoppy accent throughout, a bitter finish that diminishes as you drink it.
Our Opinion:
Overall, not a bad beer. Strangely this pilsner sits a bit heavy compared to others. It’s light and easy to drink but not a choice for a party beer. The flavor is much closer to an IPA than a pilsner leaving a perfume-like taste in your mouth. The floral undertones are a bit much and seem as if they belong in a different beer. The concept for this beer was heading in the right direction but it seems they may have gotten a bit lost along the way. This beer should be served ice cold or room temp, but not somewhere in the middle. Not to take away from Founders Brewing Company but this is not making our preferred beer list.Does 'PC' stand for Publicly Correct or what?
