Marine Pollution -- An Under-Rated But Highly Sensitive Issue, Requires Immediate Attention !!
Oceans are indeed the major part of our Earth. They are the largest water bodies and home for an enormous amount of water animal's species. Additionally oceans are a considerable source of precious metals, pearls and crude oil. Oceans cover 71% of Earth's space. So, I am sure this space is pretty large. Now if I say that this huge space, especially in water, also getting a hit by pollution, then what would be you reaction?
Well, yeah it is the truth. Marine pollution is increasing day by day and guess what, who is to blame for it?
HUMANS. The source of all types of the pollution on Earth. Why would Ocean be an exception?
So, here we are, surrounded by oceans but that is also polluted.
Marine pollution spreads by the dumping the plastic, industrial, chemical and nuclear waste into the oceans. And they say, Water gives life !! In future it won't .
Marine pollution is increasing greatly and no one is recognizing this fact, instead World is more concerned about the Crypto currency pricing. Increasing marine pollution is threatening the life of water animals. Some are on the verge of extinction and many have already extinct.
So what are the Causes of Marine Pollution?
Well, there are many causes of marine pollution but the title of number one reason would go to - Sewage and Mining.
Sewage is the dumping of toxic materials, like - agricultural wastes, plastic garbage, chemical residue from the large industries, nuclear wastes from the nuclear plants.
Mining would include the extraction of precious metals, pearls, rubies and other chemical elements. A large portion of mining comes under the category of fuel extraction. You must have seen it in many movies, a fuel station is the middle of the ocean, pulling crude oil from the bottom of the ocean. Yeah, that's it. That's called mining.
How does it affect Marine Life?
Well, whenever toxic material mixes up with water, it create a toxic element which gets absorbed by the everyone residing in the ocean. So, basically all the fish, crocodiles, a variety of plantation and some insects are gonna die in near future if this toxicity in Water keeps on increasing,
So how do we solve it ?
Well, single handedly we can only limit ourselves from throwing the plastic garbage on the street or in the water directly. Rest, is on the governments. They have the power to keep a check on the large industries pushing enormous amount of toxic materials from their furnaces. They have the power to keep a check on nuclear power plants which excretes a huge amount of nuclear waste into the ocean.
Governments have the power to make rules and regulations on all these things which are happening right now, so that all this pollution can be controlled in near future and we get ourselves a pollution free ocean.
Because what goes around, comes around. If you would throw waste into the ocean, it would again come to you by mixing up in the salt created from the ocean's water.
So keep your surroundings clean and make others aware about this concern.
Thanks for reading.
Great that your writing about such an important topic.
There are a few more things we can do for our oceans, we can try to use less fuel and more renewable energies. We can buy local produce to reduce cargoships(its not much but if a million people do it it slowly adds up) and we can make sure we know how and where the fish we eat was caught.
Plus of course voting who is in the government.
And Id like to nominate your post in a curation group im in

Agreed. This is a topic we all need to realize is not going to be swept under the rug. I was so grieved when I watched the documentary on "Trash Island". Like you mentioned we can do our individual part but need to participate with governments internationally to make any real progress towards reversing this chaos. Great message that needs to keep circulating. Upvote and Resteem
Yes, I agree with you @bethanymac . People need to be aware of this issue. I am after knowing the consequences, they will change their ways and actively help individually or with governments to curb this issue. Thanks for your precious opinion.
There are many complex issues with all the pollution. There is no one magic bullet to fix all of them.
It is by individuals becoming aware that change can happen. Recently the United States of America, President Trump, pulled out of the Paris Climate Change. We have seen a number of states still following what has been laid down by the Paris Agreement.
For myself, I am trying to cut down on my consumption of plastic. I take my salad for lunch in a glass bottle, make my own ice tea and store it in wine bottles in the fridge for the week.
I know that there is so much more that can be changed. It is also forming the habit of change.
I agree, it is definitely an important issue that we need to give more attention to and take action on. Like you said it will come back to us and we will be effected by this huge problem. Thanks for sharing! I will be following you for more great content :)
Ok. But not only sewage and mining could effect marine environment. Ship generated wastes (including Marpol wastes) could largely effect marine environments.
