365 Days That Count - Day 38 - My 1st Steem transfer! From Steem to ZAR in under 10mins!

in #life8 years ago (edited)

Today was a milestone in my Steemit journey so far! I did my first Steem to BTC transfer through https://shapeshift.io/#/coins and managed to find a buyer - all within 10 minutes!! Ok, admittedly the buyer was a friend, but still! I'm stoked!!!

It was a whole lot simpler than I'd feared and although I didn't transfer much it really will make a difference for the next few weeks which is a huge blessing considering a couple of months ago I didn't know this platform existed!

I am truly grateful to everyone involved for making it happen, most of all those of you who have supported my blog, upvoted, commented, followed etc. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

In my introduction post - https://steemit.com/life/@daisyd/a-year-ago-i-survived-and-started-living - I explained how I'm trying my best to live my second chance to the fullest and why my perspective on life has changed.

Doing good, being kind, spreading light and living passionately are my life ambitions and I am cautiously optimistic that if I continue to put in the time and be honest and open with my posts, I will get to a point where Steemit could be one of the things that enables me to live a life that I love.

I've made slow but steady progress since I started and I've been investing more time in the last few weeks which has not only helped me connect with new people but taught me a lot about the platform and how best to utilise it - although I know I still have A LOT to learn!

I'm thoroughly enjoying it, more and more each day and again, thank you so much to all of you for contributing to such a wonderfully positive experience thus far.

Love,

Daisy xx

@blocktrades does this and you don't need to find a "buyer". The experience is smooth.

Our prices are better too :-) Try us out: https://blocktrades.us

Thanks I'll check it out

Glad to hear :) Shapeshift seems to be popping up in every articles and comments recently... I never tried it, but use Bittrex or Blocktrades... Is it really better? Are there fees?

To be honest I don't know what's better as I've only ever used Shapeshift, the one downside I can see is that it only lets you transfer Steem not Steem Dollars and yes there was a small fee

Well done you, I have yet to make that scary leap to transfer

It really was SO much easier than I had thought! I resteemed a post which takes you through it step by step, have a look - hope it helps :)

@daisyd
your attitude towards steemit is exactly what it should be, there is no shortcut here, it is all about steady work
followed for more inspiring posts :)

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the support!

Congratulations! It's exciting to see how people are having success here... from simply contributing their stories and perspectives. I'm still a newbie, and you're right-- there is a LOT to learn!

It is exciting - I'm also still a newbie so to see progress is very motivating

Congratulations on that first transfer. It was seriously scary for me when I did it because I was afraid of losing my hard earned STEEM. There's a distinct feeling of relief once the unknown is known. LOL

I totally agree, took me a while to press the confirm button and then hardly breathed until it reflected in my BTC wallet :)

That is great to hear :) , bitcoins and love :)

Thanks so much @j3dy

I've only used https://blocktrades.us myself and it's worked great for me with zero fees between steem/steem dollars and bitcoin. The only small fee occurred between my bitcoin wallet and my bank (which has nothing to do with blocktrades.)

While the look of the site has changed a little, here is a fantastic guide to walk you through the process:

Thanks so much, this is very helpful - will look at the link now :)

Congratulations! It's exciting to see new people navigating the unknown to new horizons. The future looks a little bit brighter today. Thanks for sharing your experience.
