The Overwhelming Response
I asked for @briancourteau to get donations so he could buy his cancer meds to help with his seizures as he battled his cancer. He had an immediate need for $150. I "backstopped it", basically ensuring he would get the money, but what happened was a truly amazing response from our community.
The money and upvotes came pouring in. The steemit community rallied to both Brian and @lynncoyle1's aid. Not only did we get him the $150 that night, we have now sent him $500 and over 90+ sbds. And that is just on steemit. There were many many donations directly through his paypal account ([email protected]). On top of that, the post has reached over $130 and the money from that post will also go to Brian.

I want to make a special thanks to @pennsif and @darkhorse for converting the sbds and steem into US$ for Brian. They are not taking a profit or a cut in any way, and in fact are buying the currencies for their own accounts. It is not only a helpful thing to do, it really gives Brian access to the money quickly. So thank you very much!
I also want to thank the hundreds of voters on the post for their contributions too (249 at last count). Whether large (over $1 upvotes) from @postpromoter @canadian-coconut @yabapmatt @ethandsmith @bycoleman @eturnerx or small (from the littlest of minnows), these votes not only provide real money to help Brian with his medicines, they also send a message that you care! It is beautiful and I am very proud to say I am a part of this wonderful community!
Finally, there has been so much activity that I'm sure I'm missing things. I want to get the post out with the facts so that people can check and verify my wallet. It is a large sum of money and I want to respect the trust given to me to pass these funds along.
I do know however that there are other things people are also doing for Brian and Lynn, I know @charisma777 has a post also requesting help, @moderndragon made a post to explain how her followers can help click here, and @binkley from SteemThat is working with @simplymike to also get this situation more visibility. Also @backpackingmonk did a radio show with @kubbyelizabeth to highlight the story, @lost108 donated whaleshares from his lottery, and @bashadow has delegated Brian SP so he can cash in his own and not lose the ability to post.
I am so happy with all the affection that this community has shown to Brian and Lynn. I know I've barely scratched the surface if you include all the words of love and compassion, the 63 resteems, and offers to help that I haven't even mentioned. Thank you all. I know that Brian and Lynn are also blown away.
I will continue to forward any funds that I receive, including this post too. I just wanted to give everyone a quick accounting since the post and the donations have exceeded an astounding sum that has now surpassed US$1000 in total!

@davemccoy, you have made me cry...again!! Brian and I are so overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, support, prayers, positive vibes..all of it...I really am at a loss for words.
We are also planning on writing a thank you post, but here and now, we have to say THANK YOU to everyone who has touched our hearts in some way. Never in a million years would I have expected all of this; we are still both shaking our heads in amazement, in between smiling and crying tears of gratitude!
We also need to include a few names here who weren't directly connected to Dave, but saw all of our posts and felt the need to do something.
We also have to give a very special thank you to @davemccoy! This was something so thoughtful and so selfless, and like I've told you before Dave, this community would be a lot less bright without you in it.

The thing I think is most important is that we all get a chance to really show how much we admire and respect them. I'm very happy that we have accomplished that as a community and were able to help Brian with his struggles in his time of need.

I was the go fund me...I wanted to make sure they had direct access to the money and it not get tied up in Steem. Even though the thread is aging anytime there is money put in it still should be available for them.
