Researchers Prove Music Sense Can Be Mirror Your Personality
One's music taste has long been associated with personality. That is, the taste of one's music can show the person's personality.
However, who would have thought it was true. This is evidenced by the publication of two studies in the journal Psychological Science.
Studies conducted by researchers from Cambridge and some universities in the US this time more complete than previous studies, which only involve young people.
For the current study, the researchers recruited 21,000 participants in two separate online surveys. The survey was conducted to see how the five main personality types can match various genres of music.
In this study, half the participants were 22 years old. They were asked to listen to 25 music extractions that were unfamiliar to their ears. Subsequently, they were asked to choose which music they liked.
As a result, the obedient type tends to like all types of music.
Then, stomping music is generally chosen by people who are inclined to the personality of neuroticism (high emotional).
People who are energetic and like to talk more comfortable to hear acoustic music. Whereas slow and soft music is avoided by an open-minded individual. Such individuals are more fond of inspirational, complex, and dynamic music.
For people who are full of imagination and insight are more drifting in the flow of music sung in opera.
While extroverted people who love to talk and enerjik more interested in simple music is relaxed and acoustic genre.
"These results confirm that music reflects meaningful information about basic psychological characteristics," the researcher told IFL Science on Wednesday (30/05/2018).
To corroborate these findings, researchers then tested a second experiment. In this experiment, researchers monitor which artists are preferred respondents.
How, by investigating their Facebook account. From there, will be caught musical preferences along with the personality of participants.
Unfortunately, this research is considered still need to be developed again. That's because researchers do not consider other aspects such as the social, economic, and cultural status of respondents in their musical tastes.
In addition, the use of Facebook as a place of data collectors is also considered less precise. The likes given on Facebook do not necessarily describe one's favorite music.
Because, it could be "thumbs up" to music pages and artists are shared on Facebook only the fad participant.
