February 24 in Moscow will be a unique event: for the first time in many years, the existing metro station will be closed indefinitely. This will happen in the sad event with the station Business centre Solntsevskaya line (8A). It has served the passengers only 4 years old, and now closed not less than 10 years. I wish I was wrong, but I am.
Today I will tell you the reasons for its closure. We will look at similar situations in the Moscow metro and understand the reasons for this miscalculation. Or maybe not a miscalculation, but the right decision?
The whole complex of Moscow city was first laid in the mid 90-ies of the last century. Unfortunately, I do not know the date of laying the first structures of all metro stations in the complex, so I will tell you the whole history of the city transport support project.
The master plans for the development of the Moscow metro from Soviet times, which largely remain the basis until now, could not take into account the future development of this area. Krasnopresnenskaya embankment and the project of high-rise construction remained away from the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya and Filevskaya lines. First to join was not possible due to overload. The second took place on the opposite Bank of the river is predominantly land-saving in all. Had to come up with something new.
Unfortunately, the design of the metro and urban road network was entrusted to people who wanted to do something new. Otherwise, it is impossible to explain the strange project of the mini-metro from Kiev to the Business center. It is good that during the construction of underground floors in the city were laid not only 2 mini-metro stations, but also 2 full-fledged stations for future construction.
As always in our lives, there is nothing more permanent than temporary. The decision to build a mini-metro was transformed into a decision to create a fork (route) movement on the Filevskaya line. So to city day of 2005 the station of the business center of the Filevsky line which now is called Exhibition opened. It as followed by International (opened a year later), had trying to raise due to the alteration of the project from the mini-metro Filevskaya line. Remained Filyovskaya line is still the main means of transportation in the city so far.
With two full-fledged stations, the issue also began to be resolved. The first draft of the Kalininsko-Stroginskaya line was supposed to be a link of skyscrapers from the Central transfers. The second station in different projects could be given under different lines. The best option was the chord of Solntsevo and Novoperedelkino in the direction of the Yaroslavl highway and Mytishchi, but again everything happened differently.
Around this point there were several projects from the strangest and incomprehensible to interesting and unexpected. All of them revolved around two Western directions: Solntsevo and Novoperedelkino, Strogino and Mitino. The first direction has never been in question, it was just shelved. The second direction in Strogino and Mitino seems strange today, but if you look at the history, in Strogino parallel to the existing station in the project laid the second. But the value is not even in it, but in the intermediate station on the Avenue of Marshal Zhukov and a Picturesque street, where huge areas with a constant increase in the number of residents. Along with these projects there was a third: from city through the Latter to Polezhaevskaya and Dynamo. With different options and changes, but it appeared.
Later on all these projects were superimposed construction of the Moscow Central ring and big problems of unknown origin. The fact is that the construction of the Central section of the Kalinin line from the Tretyakov to the Business center is postponed for the future, similar to the construction of the center of the Kaluga-Riga and Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya lines. That's just part of this line in any case, it was necessary to build. This part is a dead end for trains. But years passed, and the impasse is still far from ready. I don't even know what's going on there. Meanwhile Calinescu the line it was decided to join with the Solntsevskaya, leaving the line to Strogino, as emerging and passing in the part of this promising line temporarily for the Large Circular line.
Complicated, right?
I will not go into technical details, because transport fans understand everything, and an ordinary passenger does not need it. Due to the inability to wrap the trains behind the Business center, the current Solntsevo line was forced to use the track development almost near the Victory Park station. Passengers this imperceptibly. In fact, trains to the station Delovoy CENTR Solntsevskaya line arrived at the railway station - that is, in a dead end. They planted passengers, left the station, then came to another standstill and left it with passengers. With the second station Business center, which was laid next. the situation is the same. With one exception: dead ends closer. It turns out that in order to use the transfer to the Business center from one station to another passengers would have to wait a long time. They would choose different lines by downloading them in full.
Another point passengers do not know. Trains do not appear out of thin air, and move from one line to another. And on a new line, the first section of the Great Ring, for getting the trains had to build two additional tunnel outside the Business centre. And there was a decision to unite temporarily Solntsevskaya and a Large Ring line. Because of this connection, the possibility of train turnover at the old station, the Business center disappears, because it would have to let the trains in one tunnel in the opposite direction. Accordingly, it has to be closed. And the station, which cast the Great Ring, at the same time to open.
In parallel with the construction were finally resolved issues with the routes of trains in the future: Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line after its completion will return to the station, which will close on February 24. Stroginskaya line is prolonged in projects for MKAD and received the name Rublevo-Arkhangelsk on the new area. In the other direction it will go in Biryulyovo and Ryazanovskoe settlement of New Moscow. A large Annular line will leave here after the final closure of the circle.
It is interesting that such a closure has already been once in Moscow. The reasons were different, but the station Aleksandrovskiy sad - Kiev Filyovsky line was closed for 5 years due to the security of the Soviet Union. Other closures in Moscow were related to the extension of the lines. So Moscow has lost the old station and the Izmailovo Kaluga, and St. Petersburg lost Country.
Whether it is the right decision or not - everyone will decide for themselves. In any situation there are dissatisfied. But I will say this: right now around the city the biggest changes. Any next discovery or change associated with this place will be a step in the complete decoupling of this node into full-fledged normal lines familiar to us. While transport remains more of a reason to lead an active life!
