A new sketch and study for a new painting. Should I return to Steemit?

Sketch for lady with flowers #1

As I mentioned in my last post I'm trying to get back on track for my 2023 resolutions. Rather than being frustrated or put off by 'failing' some of them thus far (daily posting to Hive) I always look to it as a learning opportunity.

I'm happily moving forward with the plan of posting 3 times a week. I KNOW I can do better, but I love to readjust a goal, scale it back an then have another go. When I've got it down, then I can add back onto it. It's funny the little games with play with ourselves to build habits. But, overall, they do tend to work for me in the long run.

She had hair of green like the garden she held so dear.

Though another goal is to focus a LOT this year on pattern making and repeats to create a line of fabrics/wallpapers/wrapping papers and of course on things like housewares and gifts, I often fall back on the human form and also animals and the garden.

The other day, stuck at the drawing table, looking at my list of Daily Drawing I realized, IF I cannot get to pattern layout and design, go to your old standbys and thus I sketched our little lady here with the flowers in her hair.

Her eyes sparkled like the asters of late Summer and her lips burnished like the warm sun on the flower gardens.

Overall, I'm happy with it. It was fun to do, I like the sketchy quality of pencil/watercolor and chalk.

I may have a go with her in digital oils and pastels and I might , therefore, do a series of ladies with flowers and plants; it'd be a fun accompaniment to my Animals and Plants series.

I am just happy to be back on track with the resolutions. We've not even made it to the end of January , so I think if I take it in little steps with patience, I can try and eek out good habits in 2023.

I hope you find a moment in your day to indulge in your passions. If you ARE working on resolutions, how are they going?
