A Hiking, Spooky Tunnel, Waterfall, Natural Water Slide Adventure!

As my step daughter-in-law prepared herself to give birth to her fourth and final child, Howie and I have been in charge of occupying the other three munchkins...

...and while most grandparents might get out the coloring books, we're definitely not most grandparents (though to be fair we're quite a bit younger than most grandparents...and we've been eccentric since they day we were born)

On the first day of our kid sitting challenge we took them to our favorite super secret location, a journey that begins at the top of a graveyard,

and the bottom of a vineyard.

With an air of excitement we charge into the woods,

deeper,

and deeper,

and down....

and we have arrived at the first leg,

where a 250 year old cut-stone railroad tunnel is the only thing that remains of an early upstate NY civilization.

Naturally we head inside,

where we marvel at the craftsmanship of this incredibly sound structure that was built by hand in the last decades of the 18th century..and of course holler and sing for the echoes!

Then back out we go to the next leg of the odyssey...

...dangerous things are too much fun!

Down goes one twin,

and down goes the other,

and of course we play here for a bit,

before we're beckoned,

to the next source of fun...

where we spend hours of time

on nature's water slide...

...

...and I do mean we! And also Wheeeee :)

And thus ends our first day of Operation Entertain the Munchkins!
