Memory House - Part II
Guilt whispered at the back of her mind and she started jogging. The path was an inky shadow now, snaking down and away. At her back, the wind roared an endless chorus,
"Home, home, home, home, home, …"
He felt the deer coming, long before he saw them. The vibration of their hooves reverberated in the packed earth of the path. His flashlight reflected in their eyes as he crested the first ridge and they plunged off the path. The sounds of their descent were quickly swept away by the wind.
