Steemfat: A commitment to nighttime gym sessions and a small reward.
Going to the gym @ 20:00 is much harder than in the morning....it's true.
Especially in the seasons when the days get shorter.
But sometimes you don't have a choice.
A busy workday or 'reason X' prevents you from going earlier.
You have to go after dinner.
And it's that moment after you eat that's the hardest.
Your body and mind decide to collude against you.
'Let's sit on the couch, we are tired, it's ok to skip a session. Put your feet up. There is beer in the fridge!'
In these moments I taught myself to switch to autopilot. Don't think, don't feel, just do.
I take my bag with gym clothes put on a jacket, grab the keys and walk out the door.
Arriving at the gym walking through the dark cold weather I do wish I stayed home.
I swipe my gym card at the gate and get inside.
I put my stuff in a locker and walk to the exercise bike.
I start paddling.
My legs feel heavy. It will be the worst exercise ever.
But I tell myself, even the worst exercise is better than no exercise.
(I once heard someone say that and I never forgot. I took it to heart)
After 5 minutes I can feel a change in my mind and body. I feel more energy. I feel clearer.
I add extra resistance and paddle harder.
After 10 more minutes, I'm warmed up. I'm ready for leg day.
I do my exercises for the day and it's perfect. It feels good.
After everything is done I go to my locker and put on my jacket and walk out the door.
It's always a great moment.
I did it again! It's only a personal victory but it matters every time.
Coming home I take a shower. And now it's time to relax!
And for me, that's writing.
I did end up opening that beer halfway through though.
My mind told me I really deserved it and I went with it.
I'm not perfect by any means.
But o well..then I often think..who is? :)
Yeap key point
Some exercise better than no exercise
Keep on steemit !
I don't know if you knew but testosterone levels are higher in the morning. I don't know if that will affect your gains ( I'll have to look that up) but it's something interesting to keep in mind.
But he can get angry, and improve his testosteron. Also, when you sleep, body produce growth hormone. Maybe it's good onece in a while to change time of training.
Arnold said that you need to shock your muscles. One training he starts from horisontal press, next from incline. Changing time could be useful too.
KEEP working.
A couple times a week I play hockey and typically once a week the game time is very late. We can have games starting at 11:30pm. Warm up is always slow moving as is the first 5 minutes of the game, but once everyones bodies wake up things are normal. The hard part is getting to sleep after a late game. Typically can't even think of falling asleep until after 2:30-3am.
Wow, that is very late to play hockey. That's near midnight right?
Yes it is. To get rink time for adults you kind of get stuck with some bad times. We play anywhere from 7pm to 11:30pm.
That's a great work-out shirt!!!
You can tell others that you are just blowing off steem.
lol!
Great order @exyle, although you made a decision on autopilot, but forced yourself to achieve results, but beer, this is a small reward :)
nice post @exyle, you are right no body is perfect in this world and i like to say that makes a mistake is not a problem but faking it's perfection makes it even worse, i really like your spirit and dedication man you really stick tightly with your workout routines and i am sure this hard work surely gives you great results, no doubt after completing work it's always a great feeling and it's only a personal victory but it really releases the stress and one's gain even more confidence, Stay awesome and happy my friend and wish you a very happy steemfest2, thanks for sharing
When it's hard for me, I always remind myself that if I give up, it will not be better. So I congratulate you on your excellent willpower.
Yes!
where there is will there is a way :)
its not easy for sure but it is totally worth it :)
