Country music and INFP

in #life7 years ago (edited)

I recently found an interesting breakdown of the INFP personality type. The biggest thing that stuck with me was that INFPs quest is to understand themselves. They do this through many mechanisms, like exploring own interests, understanding others and more.

I was listening to my “Top Songs of 2017” on Spotify and realized that most of my top songs are classified as “country” or some variation of it. I started wondering why I’m attracted to these types songs.

INFP stands for Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling and Prospecting.

The first thing that these songs have in common, is that they are very melodic. It doesn't tell you a lot, but to me, it means that I find the melodic arrangement extremely pleasing to my ears. Another thing that I find interesting is that the lyrics bring out some type of emotions in me that make me connect to the music. The melody and the lyrics create an enticing combination.

How does this connect with my personality?

As you noticed from the image,  one component of INFPs is that they are deeply feeling. I think that this type of music connects to that part of me. I’m not saying that every INFP will love country music, but I think that whatever music they end up connect with will involve the feeling component.

This is not a scientific study, it is just a description of a feeling, which is probably the furthest you get from scientific. Although it would be interesting to hear from others and see if my conclusions make any sense.
