Risk Evaluation: Don’t Listen to Anybody but Yourself

in #life7 years ago

It’s probably already clear: My life is powered by occasional risk-taking. Have you noticed that if you let your life be forced by habit it becomes delusively safer and smooth, but also boring? By the way, when cached in such a peaceful loop I start to feel like losing the meaning and purpose.

Admissible vs. endangering risk

Have you seen those slacklining guys in the parks? It looks hard to learn to balance on a rope, but it’s not very risky when you’re one meter above the ground. A rope between two skyscrapers is another deal… But there are people doing that too, they have learned the skills, starting with a meter high rope. I bet you wouldn’t like to give it a try.

Another scenario: You’re pissed about your job and dream to open a little bakery. Except you know nothing about running a business and hardly switch the oven once in a while. There are lots of people quitting their jobs every day and starting some kind of business, why couldn’t you do the same? Because you don’t have the required knowledge.
So, the first task is always to gain the knowledge and the skills. If you wish to do something, do it smart.

And don’t listen to the people that say you’re flogging a dead horse. If you want it you can do it.

Choose your station

If you need inspiration you don’t put the news on the radio. Catastrophes and poverty and stupid political chatting is not an inspiring atmosphere. The same is with friends and relatives: If you need encouragement and a good advice you just don’t talk about your plans with people who won’t understand you. Find the good guys that believe in you.

Your brain is your closest advisor

You may listen to the greatest gurus, but never take their words for absolute truth. Use your brain – search, learn, evaluate.

I’m in more than ten groups about crypto on social media and every now and then somebody asks: “What should I buy?” The same way they can close their eyes and just pick any currency on the exchange…

Please, read and think! About any initiative, you’re willing to throw yourself in.

Those were my last words about risk-taking (for now, haha). It was my first Weekly Topic for 2018 and with this theme, I joined in the #challenge30days – an initiative you can read more about more HERE and I even got the honor to become upvoted for one of my posts from @dragosroua – Thak You!

My next Weekly Topic is Intuition. You may think it’s some kind of crap and there is no “sixth sense” or you may love it (like me). Intuition has rational explanation, though.
