MISFITISM: ARE YOU THE UGLY DUCKLING?
Simple Definition of misfit : a person who is different from other people and who does not seem to belong in a particular group or situation.
Being a misfit, is much like being a MONDAY:) You are an explicit part of something, but you don't really fit in. We all hate those dreadful Mondays!
If you look closely around you, you will notice many of these "misfits". You don't even have to look very far. There might be one very close to you. They are a totally unique species on their own. Most of these misfits have enormous hearts... giant hearts. They are always there for everyone. They love so deeply, but can also hurt so deeply. BUT nobody ever notice. They are always willing to share their knowledge, or to give a hand to someone who is struggling. They do not expect anything in return.
So what exactly is a misfit?
- Misfits do not make friends easily. They are more of a "group friend" that's always there for everyone. They are called "misfits" but they actually fit in anywhere as they are very adaptable. They can be part of a group of friends, but sometimes this does not work out as they become bored with the group, or they might feel like they do not really belong.
- Being a misfit does not mean you are doing something wrong either....you just don't always fit in with the norm. (Sometimes it feels as if you are invisible to everyone around you, as if you need to scream just to be noticed, or to be heard.)
- A misfit is not selfish. They will do something because it makes them feel good and others are so selfish that they never give this person the recognition that they need.
- Misfits need to be with their own kind- the ones who understand them and accept them for who they are. They need to be with people who don't expect them to change.
- Misfits are not sheep. They do not follow trends, and they do not camouflage with the masses in one direction because of gullibility.
- Misfits often feel "lost" as if they do not belong anywhere. They might have an intense desire to fit in, but is not willing to give up their identity and to follow others just to feel as if they belong.
- Misfits sometimes seem like they are angry at the world, but it is just the frustration building up of not really fitting in anywhere.
- Misfits are often seen as rebels. They are fighting a fight to have everything normal in their own worlds.
- Misfits do not mind being alone. They don't always need someone around them and is quite happy to spend time with themselves.
- Misfits are highly intelligent people. They see things differently than others.
- Misfits judge themselves harshly.
- Misfits can be very sensitive people. (Maybe because they are not noticed?)
- Misfits often need to find a purpose in life to feel useful. They dedicate their time to succeed and to reach their goals.
- Misfits do not give up easily.
I have realized that I AM A 100 % MISFIT. What about you? Are you also trying to fit in somewhere? Do you follow the group or are you just a misfit like me?

Thank you for posting @giantbear. These thoughts brought to mind the poet Robert Frost's work.. The Road Not Taken. ....I took the one less travelled by and that has made all the difference. Never a misfit...just an independent thinker.
