How My Wife And I First Met...
This video contains scenes from the campus of the college my wife (1977-78) and I (1969-70) attended in Pasadena California.
We first met there during her senior year on October 2, 1977 when I came to my wife's dorm (Terrace Villa, the former Stillman B. Jamieson House, a 1920's-era Mediterranean Revival style mansion, a front view of which is seen from 0:35-0:44 in the video), when I arrived to pick up my date, a dorm mate of my wife-to-be, who answered the door (an interior view of which is shown from 1:48-2:04 in the video).
How It All Happened...
Nancy Anne and I were too shy to introduce ourselves, but we had a mutual friend who arranged a blind date for us four days later, on October 6, 1977, at a ballroom at the Top of the Hilton Hotel, located near the campus.
Even though she couldn't dance without stepping on my toes, we hit it off immediately, and the rest (including 10 children, eight surviving) over the ensuing 38 years is, as they say, a part of our history.
I've got some incredible true tales to tell of how I came to be there, after leaving the college and California seven years prior to our meeting, and returned three years before we first met, but will save these for future posts.

P.S. The Cartoon characters, some originated by Monte Wolverton (Mad magazine artist and son of the famous Mad magazine artist Basil Wolverton) and others by myself, are from our school paper The Portfolio, for which first Monte then I drew the A.C. cartoon strip, until 1970. The video and lyrics (based upon the music of the popular song "Thanks For The Memories") I created last year to commemorate our time as students at our now former alma mater campus of Ambassador College.
P.P.S.Check out the video on YouTube for the original humor I wrote and posted in the description, under the video: youtube.com/watch?v=cHTm-SlTKWk.
Love the old Mad magazine stuff - great vid.
OH it's your video and you wrote/sang it?
GREAT !
The only thing missing is a picture of the happy couple ;-)
Here you go, along with our middle son Sam:
I didn't know you drew as well Hank?
Would love to see some of your work!
BTW if there isn't a tag for ROMANCE and SWEETHEARTS maybe you should invent them !
Good point Jim
It would be great to see more love and less soft porn here on "Steemy" ...
Any one remember the old TV series, the Love Boat?
I feel like Hank and Nancy Anne should have had their own episode ;-)
Not sure how to invent tags...juat by using them I suppose?
That's my work in the video, from old black and white original artwork (circa 1969-'70), digitized and colorized by me for the video.
Great work, Hank. That video must have taken a long time to produce.
What a beautiful tribute, @hankscott - I agree, we should start a category for sweethearts and love. Thanks for sharing this huge part of your life.
I forgot to say the date I was calling on to take out to Santa Monica beach that day, her last name was...wait for it...
Beach (no kiddin')!
