When you expose your skin to the sun, your body starts producing vitamin D, also known as "sun vitamin".

Vitamin D plays a very important role in the proper functioning of many organs and body tissues.

According to a recent study, almost 40% of Americans experience vitamin D deficiency.

People who avoid staying in the sun or not receiving enough of it can suffer from various consequences, the Telegraph reports.

Below we bring you some of the most common symptoms of lack of "sun vitamin" and you can see what happens to your body if you are not exposed enough to the sun.

Poor bones

Calcium and vitamin D have long been known as important and essential nutrients for bone health. Calcium is absorbed in the small intestine with the help of vitamin D. The lack of "sun vitamin" leads to lower calcium absorption and as a result weakens the bone structure.

People who do not get enough of the sun suffer from bone pain, muscle weakness, rickets, osteomalacia and osteoporosis. It is very important to keep an adequate dose of vitamin D in your body. The main sources of vitamin D are sunlight and healthy diet.

Since vitamin D facilitates the absorption of phosphates and calcium through digestion, it can be very useful in treating bone related problems. Lack of calcium in the bones results in changes in bone structure and deformation.

Vitamin D can be used to control or prevent chronic pain in the legs, especially those associated with conditions such as osteoporosis, leg muscles, arthritis, and joints.

Colorectal Cancer

Studies have shown that low sun exposure, consequently, an insufficient amount of vitamin D in the cell can ultimately lead to the development of colorectal cancer. Vitamin D levels determine the survival and growth of cancer cells.

Find out if your vitamin D level is too low by taking a blood test. The optimum level is over 30 nanograms per milliliter.

Psoriasis is a skin disease and dysfunction of the immune system, vitamin D can change the balance in a positive way. Exposure to ultraviolet-B rays can be an effective way to treat this disease, acne and other skin problems.

The sun plays a very important role in your mood, because lack of light is a true killer of humor. The more you stay within the 4 walls, the worse you will become. Spend more time outside will find plenty of fun things and stay healthy.

Muscle weakness, bone pain and deformation can contribute to weight gain making it difficult to be active and burn calories. Also, vitamin D and hormone leptin work together to control body weight.

Vitamin D helps such signals reach the brain, and the lack of this vitamin can break the cycle. As a result, you will not feel stuffed and will not eat much.
