TRANSCENDENCE

Through new scientific discoveries, the founders of the company Nectome (Robert McIntyre and Michael McCanna) have designed a new method to keep the human brain in a cryogenic state (Liquid Nitrogen), with the aim that in the future it can be used in a computer simulation, and give life again with the personality of the deceased.

It is not very pleasant to know that our encephalic mass can be treated as a removable external disk unit, however, for many years the most privileged human beings have embraced the idea of transcending time through cryogenization, where they preserve human beings at low temperatures with the aim of reviving them in a future with better opportunities, and advances in science for the cure of diseases. (NOTE: for those who are thinking about the father of Mickey Mouse, I clarify that Walt Disney was not cryogenized, his body was incinerated and handed over to his relatives according to official sources).

Now, the new procedure does not intend to reanimate the body of the deceased, but rather to recover the information (memory and personality) stored in the structure and brain chemistry. Well, my dear reader, in this point of the article I can only say that any resemblance to fiction is purely coincidental, or not ?

Transcendence: Strongly recommended film from the director Wally Pfister, released in 2014 with the performances of Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy and Paul Bettany.

The central theme of the film is about Dr. Will Caster, an artificial intelligence researcher who works to create a machine that has collective and self-sufficient consciousness. I encouraged you to enjoy the film and discover what happens with that experiment.

Now, going back to our real reality, and I say it this way because we are already experiencing virtual reality even through our cell phones. In actual reality, as reported by the magazine of MIT (https://www.technologyreview.com/s/610456/a-startup-is-pitching-a-mind-uploading-service-that-is-100-percent-fatal/), McIntyre and McCanna legally used the body of a recently deceased elderly woman and preserved her brain two and a half hours after death.

The time before preservation caused irreversible damage to the brain, and is being used to collect samples of its composition in an electron microscope. So if you want a company like Netcome to preserve your brain, you should only request euthanasia and as they say on your website they will "back up" your mind, what do you think? Pretty innovative, is not it?

Researchers want to go further and test the system in a terminally ill person proposing assisted suicide, hoping that the content of their brain can be recovered in the future and downloaded to a computer, to be in the cloud when Technological innovations allow it. And truly today, with networks and interconnection of personal data many people are in the cloud !!!, and I do not criticize, I only recommend that you do not let hack your mind and personality in the not too distant future, be robust and have a good antivirus in your thoughts.

Although you may not believe it, there is already a list of at least 25 people interested in the procedure, but they have only managed to preserve the brain of a pig with integrity.

The controversy between science, technology and humanity (conscience, feelings) makes us think about the thin line between the realities we are living (real or virtual), which often distances us from direct contact with our loved ones.

Imagine that without taking into account the personality of the donor, you can introduce a terrorist or psychopath in the "cloud" (in order to account for the money dominates in many scenarios the world order), this personage of the "software" could unleash a fight to destroy humanity as we know it, to make way for a matrix of thought (as my dear reader is thinking, a kind of Matrix, or new world order), and I say again: any resemblance to the fiction is pure coincidence! or not ?. However, there will always be some good programs to balance the equation.

So do not be discouraged, if all goes well, in the future it can be part of a video game where the protagonists are you and a pig, for now.
